New Layout

As you can see, the site has a new layout. I just installed it last night, so the kinks haven't been worked out yet.

However, there are some new rules regarding avatars and signatures.

Avatars can only be, at the most, 125 by 125 pixels.

Signatures cannot be more than 500 pixels.

I'll be completely honest, I really hate the new layout. I think that the site looks much better when it's bright and orange. That's one of the best charms about this place. I've seen way too many Dragon Ball sites that are dark and gritty, and this just doesn't appeal to me. The banner looks suddenly out of place with the new color scheme and I'm not fond of what the layout makes mobile browsing on the site look like.

I miss the buttons a lot too -- those were a very nice touch. The top of the screen looks strange with the awkward spacing it has now and I thought the letters looked better in all caps.

But it's just my two cents on it.

I'm not a great big fan either. The gray on gray used in the descriptions can hurt the eyes when looking for too long. The blue used for certain things is also too dark for what the color the background is. When long posts are written, one must constantly scroll down to read the post. I also think that when viewing a thread, the screen looks really busy and the side bars draw you away from the posts.

I don't like having flashing and/or brightly colored ads on the side of every page on the site. They are severely distracting, severely annoying, and irritate the eyes, especially when trying to read messages near the top of each page.

As stated above, there are still some things we are changing.
Unfortunately we can't do this in safemode, as the forum site won't allow it.

NO we don't intend on keeping all the dark colors.
- we will be incorporating many oranges and yellows.

YES we will be trying to get rid of the right side bars
--Also relocating affiliate buttons and adding a new banner.

I appreciate everything. Alot tend to forget that administrators dont redo designs for themselves. they do it for us the regular members. It really pisses me off with someone neglects this fact.
Often times we complain about simple things not realizing or taking into consideration the thought that comes from this.

People may hate me and some of you do already but i find all this complaining baout colors, bars and ads to be childish. deal with it or change browsers. Sheesh they are trying to liven up the place. You all are lucky they care whether or not you can view the forum. I know folks who would do it whether u can see it or not.

Be appreciative of their work.

In hindsight, I do feel a lot like my comment was insensitive -- I probably should have been more gentle about it and have contacted Brian over AIM or something. I was honestly just trying to give my feedback on the site's new layout and word it... gently while expressing displeasure. I clearly did fail in that, and I've had more than one member point this out to me now, but it was something I did realize soon after I posted and I probably should have gone back and edited it.

At the same time, I feel like the forum should be a place where members can share their thoughts publicly -- that's kind of the purpose of a forum in the first place. But I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, be ungrateful about changes to the layout that took a long time to arrange, or sound like I'm complaining. I'm just trying to give constructive feedback, but I kind of failed in that department because I didn't say anything positive about it. I find it easier to pick out negative aspects than praise the good ones.

I realize that a major problem with personality is that I'm somewhat mechanical -- I don't always take others' feelings into account when I'm phrasing things, and makes me look like an insensitive jerk. So I'd like to apologize for my previous post.

Don't worry Kiyza, if I know Brian he is not one to hole a grudge. Don't worry about it.

I do care what my members think. That's why I added the warmer colors, to cheer things up again. I worked on it really hard all night. This layout, however, is a newer version and better for the features I wanted to implement on the forum (such as the sidebars.)

In my opinion, I am glad that Brian is the creator of this site; without him, we wouldn't be even here discussing about the new layout. I do like this new skin, but I also do agree on some common concerns among this thread. The thread space is actually too narrow than before, I liked it when it was more expanded. As it irritates me that I can't follow closely when reading because I'd have to scroll down every two paragraphs.

Anyway, I mostly respect and appreciate his hard work. After all, this layout is much better than the last one. I am glad that Brian is our admin and the site creator, I can see he also holds a great responsibility that we should support him with. All in all, Thanks everyone.

I actually made the side wider since I first implemented the layout. At least on my screen, it looks fine.

I liked it when it was more narrow, it felt like reading the page of a novel rather than this huge retarded block of text.

Hell. I, for one, like the new layout. Though, I do agree with brighter colors for DBZ RPs, but I like when it's a good mix of colors. Not too bright, not too dark. But, yeah. Layout is great, to me.

That probably has to do with your screen resolution vs size of the monitor and how far you are zoomed in. Everything fits correctly on mine. That's not going to be in Brian's control.
