Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Sairai on 8/7/2012, 11:43 pm

Sairai had left the Lookout with nothing more than a simple idea. Whoever this... thing is that is gathering the Dragon Balls for his own purposes... I have to stop them...

He continued to fly toward the location he had seen on the map, his eyes glazed over in thought. He didn't want to show up with his power at its absolute fullest, so he allowed his forms to slip backward one by one. He stopped in midair as his body armor began to regrow, and spikes began to grow out. His head elongated and his nose disappeared. If he had been looking in a mirror, he would have shuddered at the very image. Over time, his body began to shrink down, though he also began to grow taller, and the horns on his head disappeared as his original pair began to grow out into a pair of black bull horns that made him look like a higher demon.

Finally his body began to shrink down, both in terms of girth and height, as his horns shrank back in and became covered in hard, bone-like coverings. He shrugged his shoulders and rubbed them as he allowed his ki to fall down to it's lowest detectable level. He wanted to give this new opponent a sporting chance of noticing that he was there, after all. However, he did not want to give away the full potential of his power, considering that he would have to hold back unless it was absolutely necessary to completely destroy his opponent.

A strange, dark look passed over his face as he considered the magician that had to be at the heart of the entire mess. There was a darkness concentrated on the planet right now that he had never seen, even from the likes of King Cold, a man that Sairai hated with all of his being. If there was something out there who was more powerful than King Cold, and infinitely more sinister, Earth didn't stand a chance if it ever made it to Earth.

“Dammit!” the Changeling screamed into the wind. “I'm just thinking in circles here. I need to focus on the next goal. I have to stop this creature. At least that should put a damper on their plans for the time being. I can focus on the end goal when I know exactly what they're doing.”

Sairai focused on the task in front of him with renewed stamina and continued on his way to the area that the old sage had pointed him to.

After what felt like an infinite amount of time in flight, he finally arrived at the ley line crossing that had been depicted on the map. He could feel the spiritual energy of the place. It was being channeled into something, something deep beneath the Earth. He searched around, turning over rocks and uprooting trees, looking for a hidden entrance or something under the ground. He didn't want to warn his quarry that he was already there.

He then calmed down for a moment and began to think about it. These guys wouldn't want it to be obvious. They'd probably make it look like a regular human operation.

He looked around and finally came across a dig site with a few tents and a large hole delving deep underground through a cliffside. “Alright, now this looks more like it. Normal passersby would consider this nothing more than a mine. Smart.”

He then proceeded down into the darkness and flared out the ki around his hand to make a light to keep himself from being blind in the pitch black. “Well, this is our part of things. I hope whoever this is... is ready for a guest.”

Sairai smiled wickedly for a moment before he descended back down into the darkness and came across a large open area in the middle of the earth. There were a ton of hired hands simply digging through the rubble, trying to unearth some large structure that had apparently sunk into the earth some time ago. With a small grin, Sairai simply walked through them. None of them so much as raised their heads to him, which confirmed to him that they were used to working with creatures that weren't quite what they considered human.

With a little searching, he came across a small wall made of a red stone that seemed to mask the spiritual power within. He knew someone was in there, but he couldn't tell who it was from the energy. For all he knew it could be Balzar again.

“Well, here goes,” he said, as he pierced the wall and carved a hole just large enough for him to fit through with the tip of his tail. “Thank all that's good that our tails are naturally resistant to blunt force damage. That kinda hurt.”

Without another word, he dropped in through the hole into a large chamber just off the main room. He walked into the main room with a small smirk on his face, prepared to face whoever existed within.

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Game Master on 8/8/2012, 1:41 am

Mystical energies, deep blues and grays, swirled around the Xeno sorcerer Grick. Both of his big almond shaped eyes were closed tight. His mouth was agape, displaying his rows of flat plaque covered yellow teeth. He took a deep breath, holding it for a long moment. As he released his breath, a mist of deep silver filled the room.

The domed chamber was made of the dull red crystal Arcadium. As the silver mist hit his mouth, the Arcadium began to shimmer bright, filling the entire room with a blinding light. The light slowly receded and Grick opened his eyes.

The final preparations were done. Now, the only thing he had to do was wait for Broly to return. The big Saiyan's natural born power would soon be his.

His golem, Red, lingered behind him like an immovable statue. The construct had no eyes, but saw all around him. It was his sole purpose to stand watching and waiting for any disturbances. Protecting his master was the priority.

Made of the same Arcadium as the rest of the temple, Red held the fading remnant of light from the silver mist Grick had released. The golem's body was covered in exotic runes, each one representing a portion of his “programming.” Even if the runes themselves were destroyed, the magic had already become apart of his being. Therefore, he would never forget his purpose—to protect Grick. To the sorcerer, the golem was be the perfect vessel for Broly's power.

Speaking of Broly, it is taking him a long while. I wonder if he is struggling to convince Ian Lancaster.

Betraying the Organization was the least of Gricks worries, unless things didn't get moving. They had been dismantled by the defenders of Earth. Now only the Death God Oroki and his idiotic brother Ivander remained. Master had spent eons gaining influence in their dimension, and it was all to be for naught.

They had been quick to accept Grick into their ranks. He had the knowledge they lacked. The demon Balzar knew little of arcane magic, and the mortal knew nothing at all. While they all had felt Master's call, Grick had defended himself against it on purpose. He refused to become a puppet like they had.

At first he had thought about harnessing Master's power, but had soon realized that it was a faulty plan. It was far too vast for any mortal or construct to possess. Just a “drop” of his power could destroy half of a galaxy. No, had needed an power relative to the mortal realm's constraints. Broly's heritage was perfect. Stumbling upon him had allowed Grick to put into motion his plan and break free of the Organization before they even knew what was going on.

Grick flicked his wrist. The air before him coalesced, hardening into a crystal orb, which was suspended within the air. Dark clouds churned within the orb. He muttered a low incantation and the clouds began to crackling with an azure electricity. They parted a few seconds later, revealing a scene of pure detestation. Broly was in the midst of a battle. The power of him and his opponent caused cracks to spread across the surface of the orb.

“Ivander!” Grick cried. “You meddlesome fool.”

A throbbing vein appeared in his flat forehead. The anger swelled like hot air inside of his chest and he felt both of his fists ball tight. He watched the fight for a long while. They were going toe to toe, with Lancaster standing on the sidelines.

“Dammit Broly, finish him already. What is wrong with you?”

“Master, I have detected an intruder,” Red said. His voice was deep and hollow, sounding as if he were speaking from inside a metal box.

What now?

Waving his hand through the air, the clouds appeared again in the orb and then parted a second later, showing a different scene. The Changeling Sairai, who had slain Balzar, was dropping into the temple from the top. He had carved a hole through the tall spire that the excavation crews had revealed. Within moment Sairai would fall through the dark levels and arrive at the bottom. From there it was only a flight of stairs down to where Grick currently lurked.

Grick didn't have time for this, not at all. Taking hold of the orb, he crushed it in his grip. It turned to a white dust and fell from his fingertips like loose sand. He marched up the flight of stairs two at a time. Red's heavy feet thundered behind him as he followed, keeping pace.

In a large antechamber Sairai glided down before him. Grick hadn't been expecting him to be so diminutive. He would have laughed, but the creature had made quick work of Balzar, who had been a formidable opponent.

There were many ways to approach a situation. Grick hated fighting in general. Where the others would have started swinging fists, he much preferred a good conversation.

“Welcome Sairai. I am the sorcerer Grick,” he said, offering a curt bow. “How may I be of service to you?

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Sairai on 8/8/2012, 3:18 am

Strangely enough, Sairai had been greeted before he had made it to the antechamber proper. The sorcerer, or mage, if he could be called that, had met him on the way down. He had even been polite enough to introduce himself, though he kept his hulking guard, a magical construct of some sort, nearby.

Sairai returned the bow with the ease of a lord of his race. “A pleasure to meet a member of this... organization who has some manners,” he looked at Grick in the face and decided to play it as though he was confronting a member of his own race. “My name is Sairai, of the clan Sekisetsu on Planet Frieza #79.”

He crossed his legs and levitated in the air before the Xeno, allowing himself only to to release a small portion of his power. He thought about attacking for a moment, but then thought better of it. When in the company of someone like his own race, it was never intelligent to throw the first punch. At least if you didn't strike first, you could say you tried to resolve things but they got out of hand. On the other hand, you would lose the element of surprise.

Sairai expected fully to be attacked, so his guard was already up. He just floated for a few moments and then looked at Grick with the kindest smile he could muster, a smile attempted often by King Cold that was often described as creepy. With the purest sincerity, he said, “I am here to stop whatever it is that is leading to the summoning of this creature your organization calls Master. I will use whatever means are at my disposal to prevent this from happening. I have sensed, personally, what power this thing can give to someone, and the sheer infinite depth of it, and it must never be allowed to step foot into this universe.”

He stopped himself from revealing the depth of his knowledge. “A friend of mine helped me locate this place. Though he could sense nothing here, the blocking of energy alone was enough to confirm our suspicions that there was something here.”

Sairai turned and looked at the ceiling. “This place can block senses. It's incredible. It would make a wonderful base of operations, to prevent someone from ever peaking in on you.”

A thin lipped smile crossed his lips as he surveyed the rest of the stairwell. “You're quite fortunate to be working for such a powerful, well-connected group. It must be quite... interesting, but tell me, you seem smart, much like one of my own race. What can you possibly gain from the summoning of an entity that is not a puppet to be used, but a puppetmaster that uses those like yourself?”

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Game Master on 8/9/2012, 11:53 am

If there was anything Grick hated more than interruptions, it was interruptions caused by pompous righteous beings. However, his disdain was not made evident. He maintained a formal demeanor as Sairai asked him questions regarding his position within the now defunct Organization.

“This place can block senses. It's incredible. It would make a wonderful base of operations, to prevent someone from ever peaking in on you,” Sairai said.

“This red material, it is known as Arcadium. It has the ability to amplify spiritual energy. Sitting on a ley line, this entire temple is a sorcerer's paradise. The Arcadium also has a special property that shields energy from escaping, therefore concealing those within from being sensed. The temple was not built by simpleton humans. No, it is far more ancient, built when when they were still wore animal skins and lived in tribes. Other than myself, you are the first person to step foot inside of this structure for nearly ten thousand yeas,” Grick explained.

It was a lie. Broly and the boy Ryouji had also come with him to the temple's depths, but he didn't need to include that little detail.

Grick managed a smile for for the Changeling, revealing his rows of stubby flat yellowed teeth. It made sense that Sairai would think of him as a lackey of the Organization still. All that was left of the group were two misguided brothers. Maybe just one, the self styled Death God Oroki, if Broly finished the job of taking down Ivander.

“Spoken like logical being,” Grick said. “You are correct. I have nothing to gain from the Organization. That is why I have forsook them. I joined them when I was much more naïve. I was young and the promise of power was so tempting. I learned soon that they used my skills and treated me like nothing more than a rauschahound. I played the part, waiting and watching for decades. Had I left prematurely, they would have hunted me down and killed me. I am skilled in the arcane arts, but I am no warrior. You and the other fighters of Earth have given me the golden opportunity of setting off on my own. For that, I owe you a measure of gratitude.”

He approached the Changeling, walking slowly. Both of his hands were clasped behind him, resting on the small of his back. The green hooded cloak he wore swayed with each step. Red remained sentinel at the top of the steps, unmoving, like the stone he was made of.

“Master has never had sway over me, only his lackeys did. I shielded my mind long ago. Besides, his power is far to chaotic to be of any use to me.”

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Sairai on 8/16/2012, 12:26 am

Sairai listened to the Xeno's strange description of the surrounding temple. His eyes never once left those of Grick, though he did raise an eyebrow when he explained that he was no longer a member of the Organization, which meant, of course, that the man was no longer Sairai's enemy insomuch, though he might still be a threat depending on what he was planning to do in order to gain the power he seemed to be so attracted to. The Changeling looked around at the place.

“Arcadium, huh? That's quite a rare material, and one that my race has been searching for large deposits of for decades. I pray they do not find this temple through one of their probes. It would be... troublesome for anyone living on Earth, to say the least,” he said as he stood up, looking at the taller being with a quick glance. Grick's strange blue face seemed to be amicable, but Sairai had seen similar expressions on members of his own race right before they struck out with a single hand and ripped their adversary's heart out. He knew enough about intelligent, 'logical' beings to know that they only did what they wished, and used their logic to explain going after their goals afterward.

The ends justify the means, Sairai thought to himself blandly. It was a favorite saying of King Cold's, which allowed him to maintain the security of his realm, as well as his own grip on the power over the people in his dominion. Then again, King Cold doesn't need justification. He just takes what he wants and if anyone dares to question his dominion, he just kills them outright, no questions asked.

A cool, collected look remained on Sairai's face as his reverie continued for a few more moments, debating whether or not this Grick person would be a true threat or not. Regardless of his personal feelings toward what had happened in East City, he couldn't bring himself to believe that this being had some intention to destroy the planet or the universe like this Master creature did, but perhaps his desires were a bit more refined.

As he began to open his mouth to form another question, a loud screaming roar filled his ears, shaking him down to the very core of his being. He pulled the Dragon Ball he'd been secreting behind his back out and looked into it. The red stars within seemed to be dulling and the small object began glowing with a powerful light that forced the young Changeling to squint his eyes just to keep looking at it.

For a split second, he could swear he saw a green serpent-like lizard with stag horns appear within the ball, but before he could take a second glance the image had disappeared. The screaming continued to berate his ears, causing him to sink to his knees from the pain of having his ear drums pushed to the absolute limit. His fingers began to slowly unclench as he tried to fight the urge to grip his hands over his ears. In the end he failed, and the Dragon Ball fell to the ground with a clack and rolled down the stairs to the ground below.

“Wh-what the hell is this?!” he nearly screamed, the proximity between himself and the blue Xeno notwithstanding. His eyes felt like they were going pop out of his head from the sheer pressure. The walls seemed to be shaking around him, though he couldn't be sure whether that was from the sound or if his body was shaking from the pain of the roar.

As the screaming finally began to die down, he looked at the Xeno with a strange expression. “Is... is it possible that one of your former colleagues has tapped into the power of the Dragon Balls even without all seven assembled?”

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Game Master on 8/17/2012, 8:39 pm

“Arcadium, huh? That's quite a rare material, and one that my race has been searching for large deposits of for decades. I pray they do not find this temple through one of their probes. It would be... troublesome for anyone living on Earth, to say the least,” Sairai said.

Grick managed a courteous smile. The Changelings, especially King Cold and his lackeys, often thought themselves the rulers of the known universe. The funny part about it, at least for Grick, is that they only ruled over an insignificant speck of all that was the cosmos. Their power, at least compared to the wretched insects that crawled across the thousands of worlds, was god-like. But, they were far from gods.

“I knew your people loved wine, but I am surprised to hear they care about archeology. I doubt any of them are gifted sorcerers, and if they are I stand corrected. Arcadium has little use in the sciences, but through magic and alchemy it's true power is revealed.”

He walked past Sairai, moving with short strides, as if he made to circle him. Stopping behind him, Grick faced away, folding his arms beneath his cloak, behind his back. “Then again, I suppose magic is science in the end. The words themselves are meaningless. It's the difference between knowing how the universe works, as I do, and guessing at it—as scientists do.”

With little warning, a wicked howl filled the chamber. Being open and circular, it had the perfect acoustics. It was like the sound of a dying beast, yet it reverberated deeper than that. He felt it in his chest, a tight constricting sensation. Was this some sort of strange sonic attack?

Grick whirled around to face the Changeling. In Sairai's hand was one of the dragonballs. The swirling ambient energy within the crystal ball was now churning chaotically. The roar was that of the Eternal Dragon, Shenron, crying out in pain.

I don't believe it. How!? Oroki what have you done?

“Is... is it possible that one of your former colleagues has tapped into the power of the Dragon Balls even without all seven assembled?” Sairai asked.

Girck's mind was spinning with possibilities. Oroki knew nothing of magic, he was a simple hired sword. But, Master's power and knowledge was beyond any mortal mind could ever comprehend.

“Master,” Grick said, before swallowing a hard lump in his throat. “N-no-no-no. This can't be happening. Not now!”

The composure he once held was shattered. If Master was upon the Earth, that meant the death to them all. The only thing he could think about was running. But, to where? Master's influence was a hard thing to measure. There was no where, in the known universe, to run to. Grick couldn't sense what was going on in the outside world. The temple itself served as a buffer. Had Ivander won, or did Broly survive? He needed Broly's power if he were to stand any chance.

If Master tapped into the dragonballs to bring himself into the world, that means he is tied here by their magic. He'll be suffering, needing to collect power. Yes! If I destroy the dragonballs, then he will return to his realm and I can live, Grick thought.

Sometimes he loved himself. The anxiety flowed from him and he eased back into his calm stance, both of his large eyes gazing directly at Sairai's.

“We have but one option. The dragonballs, they must have a maker, some sort of being from which their power is tied to—or else they would not be as potent as they are. If we can find this being, we can kill it and destroy the source of all of this darkness. Doing that will free this realm of Master, forever. If you have any care for the beings of this world, you must help me.”

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Sairai on 8/22/2012, 12:55 am

Sairai looked at his new friend with a strange, off-put expression, but didn't say a word. As the man started talking about killing the man who made the Dragon Balls, the man Sairai knew as Kami, the Changeling only listened, and did not make a single sound, nor did he allow his face to change. When Grick finished, he cracked his fingers and looked at the floor below.

“I... don't think this will work, even if I did know who created these things,” he said as he floated to the bottom of the stairs to retrieve his Dragon Ball. He used his psychic abilities to pick the ball up and watched as it floated up and into his hand. He turned around and looked Grick in the eyes.

“Let's face it... That monster is already on Earth, even if it's only in some small part,” he muttered, just loud enough for the being to hear him. His voice had the strain of a man who hated to be brought into the middle of this kind of thing. He could feel the power of the man, or at least thought he did, through the Arcadium.

He gripped the Dragon Ball as the energy continued to ebb out of it. “I don't think destroying the Dragon Balls at this point will have the effect you hope for. I think it will merely slow his progress. Think about it. He knows this would be the next logical course for anyone who turned against him. If I were him, I'd start seeking out an alternative form of energy to bring myself the rest of the way through. Perhaps...” His hand gripped the orb even tighter as his eyes began to bulge slightly.

“Perhaps even wiping out humanity and using their spiritual essence to bring myself the full way through,” he finished, his finger hanging limply in the air. He looked to the ceiling and then turned back toward Grick. His eyes met those of the Xeno and he stroked his chin lightly as he considered the options.

“I think we might be able to stop him,” he said as he sat down on the air once more. He allowed his tail to dart back and forth rapidly. “But I need the help of a Mage. I'm a Mystic, a master of my own spiritual energy, true, but... Magic, I know very little about.”

He allowed himself to drop to the ground slowly. The Changeling looked at Grick with what could only be described as a pleading expression. “Grick, from alien to alien, I need your help. Neither of us have time to escape Master's grip, but if we can channel some offshoot of his energy into an ingestible form, a draft or tonic of some kind, and we administer it to someone who is incorruptible... the Saiyan Broly comes to mind... we might be able to give the Master a run for his money. If it evens the odds even a little... well, it's better than nothing.”

He had originally come to destroy the Xeno Mage, but now found himself in the strange position of needing the man's help. Then again, he's not a member of the Organization anymore, so I had no reason to fight him once I made it here. He might still be evil, but he hasn't done anything outright that I can get him for, at least not that I know of.

He waited as patiently as he possibly could for the answer.

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Game Master on 8/23/2012, 11:41 pm

“Grick, from alien to alien, I need your help. Neither of us have time to escape Master's grip, but if we can channel some offshoot of his energy into an ingestable form, a draft or tonic of some kind, and we administer it to someone who is incorruptible... the Saiyan Broly comes to mind... we might be able to give the Master a run for his money. If it evens the odds even a little... well, it's better than nothing,” Sairai said.

Grick's eyes narrowed at the mention of Broly. The sorcerer knew that Sairai and Broly were rivals, but that was something that a rival would not say. He had a very specific plan, and that plan was to procure Broly's legendary power for his own. Yes, he had been planning on awakening it on his own accord, but the Changeling was suggesting some sort of shared venture.

Does he wish to steal Broly's power too? No, worse off, what if he is working for Broly? Grick thought as his mind began spinning, analyzing the many possibilities. That would make sense. No wonder Sairai knows where the temple is, otherwise it would have been nearly impossible for him find it, being made of arcadium and all. So, Broly, you mean to betray me? Ungrateful, foolish brute, I will not be so easily tricked.

The Xeno started clapping and managed a broad grin for his sly devil of an opponent.

“I am impressed. I truly am. Of course empowering Broly would be the most genius of ideas, wouldn't it? Because, then he wouldn't have a need for me anymore, now would he? Why, in the name of all the forsaken gods, would I give Master's power to HIM?” he said.

His blue face darkened to a hue of purple with his growing rage. Grick hated fighting, that was true. But, there was one thing he hated much more than battle, and that was being duped. The wannabe hero that stood before him would pay for this attempted trickery, with his life.

Walking over towards the staircase, he stopped beside his arcadium golem Red. “Kill him,” he whispered, and with a swirl of his cloak, he was gone into the shadows, descending down into the heart of the temple once again.

“Yes, master,” the golem said in its hollow mechanical voice.

Blood red spiritual energy began to vent from the golem's body, on its shoulders and just below its waste. It flickered and flared, like the fiery exhaust of sup'ed up hot-rod. The runes that had been carved into its body began to shimmer and glow with a rose colored light.

From its mouth a strange growl resounded, an indication of aggression. Though it bore no emotion on its blank face, it had only one goal in mind and that was death. It would not relent, not for a minute, not for a second. For, it served its master and obeyed his commands only.

The golem charged forth, giving no warning at all, other than the dull thunder of its footfalls. Drawing its massive arm up, it attempted to smash the top of Sairai's skull. It wanted nothing more than to squish him into a pancake upon the temple's floor.

Letting off another fiery jet of exhaust, it barreled forward with full momentum straight at Sairai, in attempt to crush him against the hard arcadium wall behind them. If successful the assault would lend a special meaning to the phrase, “stuck between rock and a hard place.”

Re: Campaign: The Mystic and the Mage (Sairai vs. Grick)

Post by Sairai on 8/27/2012, 1:54 pm

“Kill him.”

Those two words told Sairai everything he needed to know. Grick was not only unwilling to work with him, but considered him a threat to be eliminated immediately. With a sigh, the Changeling readied himself for the combat to come. He allowed his ki signature to grow as high as it possibly could, until it started to crackle against the air with the sound of breaking ice.

“Yes, master,” was all the red creature said as it stepped forward to deal with the alien menace. It screamed loudly and the Changeling could easily sense the creature had a power far beyond what he had thought would be possible for a simple construct. The young alien's face remained a mask of indifference toward the strange creature, and he could feel that something weird was going on. He didn't think that the being was particularly dangerous, as long as it could be taken care of quickly.

I'll have to avoid burning up too much energy fighting this creature. I don't want to go and get myself tired out enough to where Grick will have no trouble killing me, he thought dejectedly. His muscles tensed as he felt the creature bear down on him. It attempted to smash in on his head, but Sairai barely moved to the right and allowed the creature only to smash him upon the back of his left shoulder. Sairai bit back a yell as the pain began to set in, but before he had time to really give it his full attention, he felt the creature charging up for another attack, this one much more powerful than the one before.

The red crystalline construct charged at him full speed, and he could feel something... familiar about the way in which the mindless minion acted. Sairai could see it within the creature's reflective surface. Pale white skin, eyes as dead as driftwood, a strange, demented scowl permanently tattooed on his face as he charged forward, with no thought as to his own safety nor that of others around him while his indigo hair whipped back against the wind.

Broly? Sairai asked within his mind as his power spike. Sairai immediately jumped into the air, performing a flip as he did so, and grabbed onto the bottom of the spiral staircase with a single hand. He pulled himself up easily and looked down the spiral to see the strange being's attack had missed.

But why did that attack remind me of Broly? Then, it hit him like a veritable ton of bricks. That's the attack Broly used to fight off the shockwave that followed the Super Nova I used to kill Balzar!

The memory gave him strength. He had been able to kill Balzar, which he could sense was stronger than Grick, and he knew that this minion of the Xeno was only a fraction as powerful as the sorcerer himself was. “This will be fun... I just have to keep myself from tiring out... Let's see...”

Sairai allowed his spirit energy to pour out from his body in a steadily increasing amount. He could feel his muscles tensing and relaxing, tensing and relaxing. Then, the scream came, echoing through the chamber like the cries of one thousand vengeful spirits. As his spirit energy continued to increase, lightning began to dance across his form, and across the Arcadium walls behind him. Then, nothing. He was just standing there, his eyes glowing blue from the energy he had just unleashed.

“All right, you big red monster... let's see what you're really capable of,” the Changeling whispered under his breath as he rested for just a moment after the ordeal of tapping into his full potential, something which he had not had reason to do since his battle with the demon Balzar.

He let his hands rest on his knees for a moment before he stood up and thought, Maybe I should just dismantle this temple one annex at a time...

With that thought giving him a little bit of humor in the situation, he brought two fingers up before his face and smiled wickedly. He hadn't had a chance to use this particular ability since his fight with a young man some time before. If only he could remember his name. With a shrug, he decided it wasn't really important to the matter at hand and slashed with his two fingers extended, a rush of nearly invisible ki energy leaving the tips of his fingers and traveling swiftly through the air toward the being before him.

Sairai knew that there wasn't much chance this attack would be enough to kill the red creature, but this was merely a test run to make sure what he was up against could be damaged and killed. He watched, eyes unmoving, as his arm finished the arc and the attack was on its way. There was only so much any being could do to block an attack that could cut through mountains. Soon he would see whether this creature was indeed capable of such a feat.
