Re: A Surprising Guardian.

It was pretty well known that an elderly green man by the name of Kami was the guardian of Earth and it's people. He sat upon a lookout far above the clouds where he was able to be hidden, but all knowing. He could safely watch over earth from his perch. Not exactly the 'asking' type, Gaza would find it a bit degrading to request the old, green man's training. However, if he could find someone to accompany him, then perhaps it would be more entertaining. He decided that, at the risk of angering the man, he would propose to Vegeta that they may be able to get information from the man, without him knowing their purpose for knowing.

Looking high and low, but not with a real criteria for where Vegeta would be, he checked the larger cities, but there wasn't a sign of chaos or destruction. Upon further search, Vegeta was nowhere to be found, a displeasing result for Gaza's search. He thought he might as well go at it alone, and report back whatever information he got. Kami would have to know where Goku was, after all, he was the Guardian of Earth. He could easily help Gaza find the guy, if he thought it was for the right reasons. Deception would have to be involved for this one.

As he arrived at the Lookout, Gaza saw none other than Prince Vegeta, a man he had respected more than anyone he knew at this point. Though he was unsure of his exact background, he must have some sort of importance as the son of King Vegeta. His mission was clear after all, find Goku. After that, Gaza didn't much care what happened to the 'hero'. Though he wasn't sure why he thought of it like that, emphasizing hero in that way. The man was undoubtedly a hero, but Gaza disagreed with his cause now. It would help him quite a bit if he were to be taken off planet for awhile.

"Hey, uh, Vegeta. I was looking for you actually. I've got an idea, but you seem to have beaten me to the punch." Gaza said, landing down on the lookout a bit of the ways behind Vegeta. If Vegeta had in fact thought of the same idea, they were taking a step in the right direction here. He couldn't help but be careful around the Prince, he was unpredictable, and a tangle with him on the lookout might not be the best way to get the information they both wanted. If things went well, they would both be satisfied by the end of this endeavor. "That is, if you are interested."

The air around him seemed filled with tension, as though the oxygen was only present because he was allowing it to remain there, seemingly stagnant around him. It disgusted him, the sloth-filled tendencies of the Earthlings and their like minded Namekian Guardian, who had taken the name 'Kami'. While it supposedly meant 'God' in their language, he hardly felt the man was deserving of the title. He was far more powerful than the slug was, now. So now he was forced to wait on someone weaker than himself.

Vegeta had always been powerful. He had been powerful since his birth. It was as if the planet was filled with a mediocrity deserving of it's location, the middle of nowhere. He'd heard of slave-hubs with a more ki aware population. However, he couldn't be sure if it was just the anger seething beneath his ever-cooled expression that was revealing such truth to him. He had been stuck on the planet for over a month now, and had made little progress in his search for 'Son Goku. Or at least, he had until now.

As he stood, arms crossed in wait, the Prince reviewed the facts. Beneath this lookout existed a room which revealed the past and the future; somewhere beneath the white marble flooring was his answer. It stood to reason that with the aid of the Guardian, that bothersome slug-bastard, he would be able to locate Kakarot using the 'Pendulum Room'. He would brush up on the history of this backwater planet, if only to use it against it's population.

The boy, Gaza, touched down somewhere behind him. His body turned as thoughts spilled forth from his mouth, an idea had formed in the child's head as well; had he also known of the Pendulum Room? If so, he would prove a valuable asset in the pursuit of entry. As of the present moment, the guardians of Earth were refusing to grant him entrance into their stronghold. They claimed he was filled with evil, that he was only asking for entrance in order to destroy them. Yes, that was true; but that was no reason to deny him entrance.

He had even sued for peace, offering them asylum from his wrath should they provide him a ticket inside. However, that too had failed. They hadn't wanted safety, they hadn't wanted spared. That was their mistake to make. He would not argue for their sanity.

”Fire away... Gaza”, he used the name hesitantly, as if it were a foreign taste to his young tongue. He was not used to calling a man by name, but this boy was quickly proving himself to be more interesting by the minute.

It was quite intense, watch Vegeta stew in Gaza's plan. Gaza hoped the prince would be willing to play along. It was much too the younger Saiyan's surprise when Vegeta finally responded. ”Fire away... Gaza” It was strange, being called by name. He'd not had the luxury of knowing people on a first name basis.

"Right, Vegeta." Gaza nodded. There was nothing between the two of them and this so called 'Pendulum Room'. So why not stroll right on over to it? Gaza didn't see anyone who would oppose, so he casually walked towards it. Not even halfway to the door, a large, black, genie looking man slid in front of him, almost out of nowhere. The man's face was very distinguishable, the lips were pronounced and his eyes stuck out of the deep black skin. Gaza hadn't seen a man like this before, not in his time here on Earth. This man was, Mr. Popo.

"Hello there, Saiyan. What would you be doing here on this fine day?" Mr. Popo questioned, sounding very cheerful.

"What? Ge-" Gaza cut himself off, realizing that he may be able to reason with this man, more luck than perhaps vegeta had. Gaza still had a bit of innocence in him after all. "Me and my... friend... here need to get into the Pendulum Room."

"Oh, well. I'm not sure about your friend there, what a character he is. I sense great evil within him." Popo said, eyeing Vegeta over Gaza's shoulder. It was a rude gesture Gaza though, but he paid it no mind, keeping his cool now that he had wanted something.

"Well, see... that's the thing." Gaza said, thinking quick on his feet. "He's going to help me so I can infiltrate a... prison compound on another planet. He's a foreman there and he's had to do things he's not proud of." Gaza said, watching Popo eat up every word of it.

"Oh, I see. Perhaps he can be permitted, if you can work together and pass this test, I see no reason stopping you from working together to liberate a group of prisoners." Popo agreed, not revealing what the test had in store.

"Alright!" Gaza said, very excited. He quickly ran back over to Vegeta to break to him the good news. He would likely be as excited as Gaza, though he would not express it as well. "Well, good news! Popo, the genie looking guy said if we can pass the test he has for us, working together, then we can work together to train for a completely made up cause in the Pendulum Room."

Re: A Surprising Guardian.

Vegeta eyed the boy with suspicion as he dashed over to the black skinned genie, face filled with great concern. It was clear that he was a natural born liar, a trait that would be admirable if it weren't so untrustworthy. He himself was an accomplished liar, capable of hog swindling his way out of more than his own fair share of dilemma. Struggling to quiet his quickly objecting mind, the Prince turned his attention to the conversation in the distance. He would need to be able to back up whatever words the boy had decided to issue.

He swiftly caught on to the ruse; he was playing the role of the concerned warden, the official who could no longer control his populace and the corruption within his administration. He adored the boy's moxie; it was something akin to a persona he himself may have chosen. As the Prince of a warrior culture, he was used to disciplining his people in a variety of ways, some of them less than savory or approved. Then again, what were words like approval in the face of his rule? It wasn't as if many people could challenge his decision making.

As Gaza came scurrying back to him, he quickly revealed the Genie's answer, which had been lost to the rest of Vegeta's thoughts. He had encountered the black one before, but he had refused to tell him anything about himself. That had been a wise decision, in hindsight. With the help of the child, Gaza, he would be able to convince this 'Popo' of his dire need. Often times, rudeness was excused by circumstance. At least, that was the thought he kept in mind as he strode forward to meet the black genie, brushing by the boy with as much courtesy as he would offer a commoner.

However, as he was about to pass him, he suddenly stopped and turned to face the child, voice lowered to a secretive whisper. He was used to more planned out operations, but he knew how to play a part. His face softened as he spoke, hiding all traces of his originally rough and rowdy exterior. He would not give them even more room to doubt his part; his cape already made him rather high profile. If the slug inside were to recognize his crest? The jig would be up. Still, he had no reason to worry. The Saiyans hadn't quarreled with the Nameks, yet.

”Not bad, boy. However, remember to maintain this facade of...Nicety, within you. If he suspects anything, I would rather not have to create a hostage situation.”, he spoke of course of Popo's reservations. Though the genie had readily agreed to assist Gaza and his 'Ally', the doubt was sewn clearly across his features. He wasn't sure he could trust Vegeta, though his faith was clearly placed in the red haired boy. Issuing a final, tense command, the Prince prepared to greet the black fighter's test.

”Don't be afraid to play the part, boy.”

Popo was unclear as to what the challenge they would have to face, but knowing the people of Earth and their arrogance, he would likely make them do something that had to do with besting him at something. Vegeta whispered from behind Gaza, catching him by a bit of surprise. ”Don't be afraid to play the part, boy.” he insisted. Gaza would do so, but the matter still stood, what did Popo want? It wasn't entirely clear and Gaza could only guess.

Popo didn't appear to be a fighter, so Gaza thought they would have to beat him at some sort of game. He was mistaken however, upon approaching Popo, he responded with a simple command. "You must do but a simple task; strike me."

Gaza was stunned at his blatant 'Come at me' command. Gaza shrugged, simply walking up to Popo. He looked the genie dead in the eye. "You are really gonna wish you'd chosen a different task." Gaza quickly hopped behind the black skinned genie, wrapping his arms up, putting him in a full nelson. "Quick Vegeta, hit him!" Gaza shouted, wanting to get this done with before they wasted anymore of their precious time they could be spending dealing with Kakarot.

Re: A Surprising Guardian.

The boy dashed forward with an impressive speed, one that rivaled the grizzled Warrior Prince's without a doubt. Somehow, the boy had improved in leaps and bounds that were previously unheard of. He had never seen a warrior other than himself climb in the ranks so quickly, and while that made him all the more useful, it also made him an even bigger threat. He was easily one of the Earth's elite warrior caste, as limited and low spread as they were. Of course, were he a human, that would likely not be the case.

Oh yes, it was likely his heritage that bolstered his progress. At least, that was what Vegeta was being forced to tell himself, as the boy rapidly grew in power. Every time he had encountered the boy, he had experienced a rapid and vast growth. Hell, he'd almost doubled his strength after their first bout, a little over a week ago. It was to be expected, truly. The boy was likely the product of noble birth, the true warrior caste of the universe.

”Impressive,” his voice emerged in a hushed whisper as he compared the boy's skills to that which he had seen so far.

While the Saiyan Elite was far more powerful than anything this pathetic planet had to offer, by a far cry, it was still admirable how far this Saiyan had come against adversity. The strongest human he had encountered so far was that little bald one, whose name seemed to evade him, and Gaza seemed to surpass him with ease. Eyes narrowing as Gaza captured the genie in a rather tight grapple, the Saiyan strolled forward, gaze on the prize before him. With the child holding the genie, there was no way he would manage to wiggle out of his grip.

Energy encompassed his fist as he chose a target, preparing to strike low and hard on the struggling djinn. He knew that the black fighter would try everything he could to escape, do everything he could to survive in this challenge. It was clear that as his name was revealed, the Genie had realized exactly what he had gotten himself in to. All over the world, humans had cried his name as their last word before their rather 'untimely' ends. A fang toothed grin broke out among his features as he stepped forward, cocking his fist back at his waist.

This, for the other man, was going to be as painful a strike as he had ever felt. Violet light was flickering on and off around the Warrior Prince's fist like an emptying oil lamp, as his energy bathed the rest of the look out in ghastly shadow. As he locked onto position, Vegeta's fist bolted forward like a lightning bolt from the earth, releasing a loud 'thud' and 'oomph' as it made contact with his opponent's clothed flesh. He had struck a little low, that was true, but one knew the old saying.

The quickest way to cripple a man was to tear away that which made him a man.
