Korin's Tower Empty Re: Korin's Tower

"Gah...!"

Tapion's voice echoed loudly from within the cave. His unplanned excursion within it's depths had evidently lead him into trouble. He burst forth from the mouth of the cave, drenched in an unidentifiable liquid. Trailing his by a few feet was a swarm of large bees. The quest for delicious honey had been completed, though he hadn't anticipated the scale of the bees.

He was sprint across the ground, but when he attempted to fly he ultimately slowed himself down, and couldn't pull away from the Earth.

"Fine, we'll play it your way." Tapion shouted in a resonant alto. His voice may be high, but he was, in his opinion, rather mighty. He whirled around to face the bees whom trailed him. Upon turning around, he immediately regretted the decision, after observing the large quantity of honey-spewing monstrosities followed along. He immediately darted back the direction he was previously running.

Looking for anywhere to go, his arms as well as legs pumped furiously, and he dodged the incoming, piercing stingers that threatened him. A lake entered his view and he used all of the energy he could muster and surged across the land. Once reaching the edge of the lake, he passed the boundary and shot over the water. Before he could realize what he had done, he reached the opposite end of the lake and missed his opportunity.

"Oh no you don't, get back here lake!"

Given his situation, now was no time to be goofy, but he had to entertain himself somehow. He flipped around, about five feet from the briny blue. The bees had closed in much of the space between themselves and their prey, but Tapion hadn't given up yet. Still very much drenched in honey, Tapion soared into the swarm with his sword drawn. His last bit of imperative energy was expended as he blasted into the middle of the hive.

With all of his might he threw his sword up, then pushing himself with anything he had left, raced up and caught it. The sword had built up enough energy so that when he caught it, he was able to perform a flip and wind up facing downward.

As he plunged into the water, a red ball of energy brought the majority of the bees down with him. Tapion fought hard to pull himself further beneath the surface, as to avoid the remaining adversaries.

The mass of bees brought beneath the depths with him squirmed about, but didn't impede his movement. He had descended further than them, and used his remaining breathe to swim around the hulking mass and after waiting, what he felt was an appropriate amount of time, ascended to the surface.

Muscles aching, heart pounding, and gasping, he emerged from the water. After seeing the damage Tapion had done to their pack, the remaining bees as fled. He was safe, for now.

He grasped at the earth beyond the lake's perimeter and pulled himself to the ground. After allotting his lungs time to refill, he flipped over and sat up. Afterwards, he sought out to clean himself of the water-soaked honey. He had survived, but his prize had been obliterated by his escape tactic.

After soaking his clothes a bit, he twisted them to get the water from between the fibers. They ended up being relatively dry.

While he was drying out his clothes, he noticed a large pillar peeking just above the treetops. He had heard rumors about it before, after lodging in a nearby town. It was said that an all-powerful man lived atop the tower and would train anyone who climbed it. Tapion could fly, but remembered that you were explicitly required to climb it. A punishment for flying was not what he was after. In an attempt to salvage his treat of honey, he decided that training from a master of aforementioned stature would be quite the prize.

Tapion made his way through the woods at a brisk pace. The excursion with the bees had worn him down, and the tower stretched higher than the clouds, so he had deduced that it would take quite a toll on him, and he would need all the strength he could muster to reach the top.

After a ten minute jog, he had finally reached the base of the tower.

"Hmm." Tapion turned his attention to the sword sheated on his back. It was rather heavy, and would slow him down, and maybe even hinder him getting to the top. He concluded that he would eventually come back down, and his sword would be relatively safe if he hid it in a nearby tree. He removed the scabbard and placed it in a particularly dense tree. The branch was far away from any others, and the sword fit nicely against the trunks. After landing, he marked the tree with a small beam of ki, then made his way back to the tower.

He rubbed his hands together in anticipation, then began the ascent.

Hand after hand, foot after foot, he raced up the obelisk. He felt he was making good time, and at the pace he was going he felt pretty confident he would remain invigorated for the entirety of the climb.

The sun reached the middle of the eastern side of the sky, as Tapion neared the barrier in the sky that was the clouds. When he found himself in the midst of the clouds, a thought struck him. What if I need the sword to train?

"I'll just get past the clouds, and see how far it is to the top of the tower. I'm probably almost there already." Tapion said with a sigh. His red mohawk emerged from beneath the clouds, and he peaked up at the remainder of the tower.

His mouth fell open as the incredible climb that remained appeared before him. He agonizingly sled down the pillar to regain his sword.

After retrieving his sword, he made his way back up the tower. By the time he returned back to the clouds the sun had set. He was exhausted, and the thought of what was ahead of him pissed him off. He subconsciously used that burst of rage to fuel his ascendance. He roared with extraordinary vigor, then in an amazing feat of agility, began racing up the tower on foot.

Literally running up the straight surface, he blazed through the clouds, and emerged on the other side. He closed his eyes to protect himself from the disheartening sight he knew lied ahead, and continued his charge up the tower.

After a few minutes, he decided it was alright to open his eyes.

When his eyes popped open, a new found morale shot forth, and he closed in the space between himself and the top of the tower. There at the top of the tower, was a small palace-looking structure. He jumped at a point where he knew he would reach the top, and slid tiredly to a halt within the construction.

"Congratulations. You're the first person to reach my domain in some time." An old, white cat holding a battered, wooden staff said in a monotone voice.

"You're the wise and powerful master?" Tapion said in utter shock.

"Yeah. Congratulations on reaching my humble abode." Korin said in the most sarcastic voice Tapion had ever heard.

"You already said that." Tapion said with a scowl.

"Did I? Oh, well congratulations on picking that up."

"Wow. I just wasted my time climbing up this tower, so a crotchety, old cat could make jest at that waste of time."

"Yup. I'd say so."

"Well are you at least able to give me something for climbing up here?"

"Nope."

Tapion seethed with anger. The thought of murdering the cat was not farm from mind. He manage to get to his feet, stalked over to the cat, decided that anyone else who managed to climb up here could get the blood on their hands, then plunged off the side of the tower.

"Wait kid! I was only joking! I do have something to offer you, come back!"

Tapion stopped himself in mid-air as the cat shouted out to him. He turned around and flew back to the top.

"You better hope your not lying."

"I'm not, but you'll have to go down and climb back up. Those are the rules. No flying, remember?"

"If I hadn't just exhausted the last bit of energy I had, I might murder you right here. In fact, I think I may anyway." Tapion said, his voice raising angrily as he got further in the statement. Then he grabbed the cat and tossed him off of the tower. Korin fell a few feet, but was rescued by a magical cloud.

"This was going to be your prize for reaching me, but if you're going to be that way, then I think I'll take it elsewhere."

"Whatever. Anything's better than nothing." Tapion replied. Then, out of utter exhaustion, he fell asleep.
