Rotten to The Core Empty Rotten to The Core

In the midst of small, unremarkable town, the sun rose towards it's highest point in the sky. Warming rays of sunlight beamed down on the buildings, aged slowly over time. The usual frantic bustle of the city would not be found here. Only the quiet day to day activities of a small little community. Paved with smooth concrete roads and rustic or antique shops, it was the perfect getaway for any who wished to escape the urban jungle. But not for Nyx. Instead, this little haven was much more than that. It served a much more different purpose, even though it was in a sense, a means of escape. It's coordinates seared into her memory, she knew this place well. And it was here and now, where the deadly predator made herself at home.

For approximately three days she had been here, locked up and sealed away from society. In one of the common buildings she dwelled, but no one paid her any mind. Why? For what appeared to be nothing more than a store selling medical supplies and herbs, was actually an illusion. The true face of the actual building and herself were safely hidden from view. She had of course, thoroughly sound proofed her unofficial home, and added a highly advanced security system, which she could activate at the flick of the switch. It was currently turned off, as her attention was focused on more pressing matters.

Deep in her base of operations, Nyx slammed her fists against a steel table with a resounding bang in frustration. "Damn it! How do they do it?" Seething, she peered at her blurred facade through the metal surface. "I am supposed to be stronger...the best. But why haven't I progressed? Insubordination is intolerable!" She snarled, clenching her jaw, as raw electric energy crackled and flared around her body. After this intense moment, she calmed down, and focused. Determination set in like a fire in her eyes. "I must continue to improve myself, no matter the cost. I can only do so much here." She said, looking at the assortment of objects laid out on the tables in the large room.

To achieve her goal, Nyx knew she must turn to the outside world and it's people. Despite the fact that there were those with powers greater than her, they could be a potential source of guidance. Cringing at this thought, she slipped out of the doorway, without disturbing the holographic image of the shop that was in place. She would keep it activated. Glaring, she made sure that no one paid any special attention to her exit. But there was no need to. As soon as she took two steps, shock hit her in the face. The town was deserted...in ruins. There was not a soul to be seen or a sound to be heard. The one odd thing she did notice, was that there were clothes strewn everywhere. "Hmm..." Molten eyes narrowed whilst she peered at a shirt. It had a distinct hole in the back, and it was stained with blood. "This is most unusual...." She muttered to herself, while heading deeper into town. "...but at least I will have some more peace and quiet from now on." A devilish smirk came to her lips, as if thanking whomever wiped out the meager population of this run down little place.

Rotten to The Core Empty Re: Rotten to The Core

Cell sat atop one of the many buildings in the rustic little town. He enjoyed places like this, not for their normal allure which humans would see. He enjoyed it because it normally housed a fairly diverse range of human prey. From War Veterans to scholars long since retired. They of course also offered next to no resistance which he found to be both to his liking, and yet frustrating. He was craving at least a little challenge. If he had not waited a moment more, he would have passed up an interesting encounter. He suddenly noticed a sign of life, in the town which was completely devoid only a moment ago.

As Cell was almost constantly a very observant predator, this development gave him a small flicker of surprise. What appeared to be a human woman was walking freely through the town. She had a bit of power in her aura, though not as great as his own. She took notice of the town being deserted and even investigated one of his victims clothing. He observed her for a moment, and while normally his policy would be to just kill her quickly and consume her ...he did not. He felt some reason as to why he should not, perhaps it was simply his boredom needing sating. He decided to have a bit of fun with this.

He silently moved from the top of the building to ground level, approaching her from behind. While he could easily mask himself perfectly, considering he gave off no signature of energy and could avoid the sound of foot falls by floating, he allowed himself the luxury of feeling the hot road under his carapace-armored feet. He walked behind her, keeping a fair distance. It was not for his safety, as he honestly could not see this person being a threat. No this was more to give her a fighting chance should she not prove interesting enough to let live. He waited a moment, to see if she noticed the other aura he gave off. It was not one of energy, but one of pure death. Like the angel of death of descending just to lop off her head himself. As if a wild animal was gnashing and clawing for her neck, eager to see the crimson flow of life.

“So where exactly where you hiding?” He asked, honestly curious as he should have easily been able to find her.
