That Which Drives (Solo) Empty That Which Drives (Solo)

Post by Ruurik 8/12/2012, 7:55 pm

The emptiness of space was frightening to some. The darkness, the cold and the silence tended to frighten people. Others however found hope in the stars, focusing on the potential of all the planets instead of the vast emptiness between them. Each planet held the potential for growth, riches, knowledge and a deeper understanding of the universe. Ruurk cared nothing for those notions and little more for those who felt that way. To Ruurik each ball of dust was just one more stop before he eventually returned home.

Returning home was quite the daunting prospect for Ruurik, not because he was a pariah amongst his people or was on some monumental quest. The reason Ruurik could not return to his home world of Orco was very simply cause it was no longer his home world. Ruurik's people, the Orcosians, had been forcibly remove from their home world which was then sold to the highest bidder. Some say that the Orcosians were lucky because most races that had their home worlds taken didn't live to talk about it. Which was true but the lost of Orco was killing the Orcosians just as surely if they hadn't managed to evacuate a good portion of their people.

With the loss of Orco most Orcosians were turning to piracy and mercenary work, not much different than what they had been doing before. Without the funding of the Orcosian government backing them though most were ill equipped to survive the long haul of those already dangerous carers. It was painful to watch his people die slowly like this, it almost seemed like it would've been a mercy for them to have been ended with the fall of Orco. Ruurik wouldn't yield though, he would see Orco returned to the Orcosian's or die trying, a very likely possibility.

Ruurik rolled onto his side and looked out across the cargo bay of the ship. Ruurik had been placed in the cargo hold for the duration of this trip because it was one of the few places large enough for him to move around comfortably. Most ships weren't designed with the Orcosians in mind, even though Ruurik was a runt of an Orcosian he was still two whole feet taller then the next tallest inhabitant of the ship. Standing at eight foot even Ruurik often found himself having to keep his head down in the hallways of the ship and crouching to get through the doorways. So instead Ruurik kept to the cargo bay. Occasionally helping with any heavy lifting the crew needed, being able to lift crates that would've required the use of heavy machinery for the crew to move.

Ruurik was feeling a bit lonely and wished he had someone to talk to, another thing h lacked sine the fall of Orco. Being a runt most Orcosians looked down on Ruurik, both figuratively and literally, in their eyes he was just some weakling never worthy of being a true warrior. Since the fall of Orco the anti-runt sentiment had become stronger, many saying that the coddling of runts is what made them too weak to fight of the Saiyans. It was a lie that people were telling themselves to feel better about the fact that their greatest warriors were nothing before the Saiyans under the light of the full moon. The belief still existed however no matter how many times he proved himself to the Orcosian remnants they refused to except him as a warrior.

Ruurik rolled onto his back again staring at the ceiling of the cargo bay. After leaving the Orcosian pirates that had saved him by dragging him off of Orco during that last night of destruction Ruurik hadn't had much luck with any of the other races. Some still feared the Orcosians from when they were the ones raiding and selling worlds to the PTO, those who didn't thought of him as an ugly giant of a being. Ruurik understood that size was relative but calling him ugly was just plain mean. Sure he looked different then many of the other Xeno races but that was to be expected. Xeno's came in all different shapes and sizes sure the Orcosians were a little more towards the odd end of the spectrum but it's not like they leaked fluids or had appendages sticking out of odd places.

Sighing Ruurik closed his eyes hoping he could get his mind off of thing by sleeping in the few hours till they finally arrived on Earth. From what he understood Earth was a little backwater planet just beginning to make strides towards join the galaxy at large. Ruurik had heard that many of the planets inhabitants weren't even able to manipulate their ki, a strange prospect. For the most part Ruurik didn't think there was much to be gained by coming to earth, however there were rumors that many powerful warriors were here despite the general populace being weaklings. Ruurik thought that maybe he'd be able to pick up a few tricks from these warriors, if they were even here, otherwise he'd just move onto the next planet. Ruurik's eyes fluttered slightly and he suddenly fell asleep.
