Unlike most of his piers, Arlan is not fully human, though luckily his extraterrestrial lineage bears virtually no differences from that of his homosapien one. His mother, Kiko, died while giving birth to him and not very much is know about his father. All that is conclusive about his other parent is that he left the planet in an odd space pod just as abruptly as he arrived. Needless to say, Arlan know's very little about his origins and is actually completely ignorant to his half saiyan blood. He is currently under the care of his grandfather, Tomi, who happens to be a martial arts guru that owns his own dojo.

Tomi knows the secrets about Arlan's past in startling detail, but however, he has chosen to withhold such information from him until he believes his grandson is 'ready'. Despite such odd occurrences regarding his origin, Arlan has managed to to lead a rather normal life. Alongside training in the martial arts he also attends high school and hangs out with earthly friends and acquaintances. However there are certain things about himself he is noticing that are not homogenous to kids his age.

He has an inexplicable lust for combat along with profound strength and toughness. Arlan is on the brink of tapping into his inherent power as he furthers his training, and the stronger he becomes, the more difficult it is for Tomi to keep the truth away from him. At birth his grandfather removed his tail, as it seems he had become privy to its abilities around the time of his conception. To this day, Tomi keeps the severed tail locked away in the confines of the dojo, save for the day that he may need to use it as proof once he must reveal to his grandson the truth about his origins.

His chest was stifling, the rogue winds of the hot mountainous region not exactly helping him with his discomfort. It had been years since he had been peppered down with a blow that actually brought him to his knee's. The orange/yellow sun beat down his back, piercing through the threads of his tan short sleeved t-shirt. Beads of sweat that were born from his profuse sweat raced down his face, competing to get to the tip of his nose in order to free fall into the small puddle of sweat he was now staring directly into with his black hued eyes. His biceps began to quiver and shake as he struggled to support his body on all fours, his black sweats becoming stained by the powdered dirt beneath his knees. “ All of that time and training in the dojo, is this situation proof that it was all for not?” He inquired unto himself as he struggled to find his morale. The immediate surface beneath him quaked with a slight tremor as he struck his fist violently into the sediment. “I'm assuming you have found your resolve? Otherwise, I would be inclined to question your sanity for punching the ground without reason.” A voice intoned moderately in the immediate vicinity.

If one were to follow the trajectory of the voice their eyes would soon find the source. A rather frail looking old man weighing no more than one hundred pounds and standing no taller than five feet dressed in an all black martial kimono would be found as the only possible suspect. Hunched over with his forearms tucked comfortably behind his lower back, his posture was almost indicative of his old age. “That was a palpable hit no doubt, but don’t flatter yourself that much.” He uttered in retort as he staggered while scrambling back up to his feet, the grip underneath his dark blue martial boots helping him regather his equilibrium.“There is no need for my resolve to surface just yet, you've only managed to tick me off.” The young apprentice added as he dropped into his martial stance with his left foot leading his right by way of a shoulder width distance.“Haaa!” With a loud outcry of determination a surging wind struck up around him in a spherical presence, tossing sediment and other rock related debris around in his immediate vicinity. The eyes of the aged martial arts master widened noticeably from their otherwise slender nature as a vibrant white/blue aura began to materialize around his grandson's body. Perhaps there was more to him as a young fighter than he had previously noticed.
