Eilee Vs Creno Valour

<"Eilee, I really don't think this is wise...">

"Oh, be quiet," Eilee said under her breath. "I know exactly what I'm doing here. Now pull up some specs of the interior."

A screen in front of her eye lit up with a three-dimensional map of the building. As she had previously suspected, it was a military facility, and quite well engineered considering the primitive planet it was on. An electric fence surrounded the concrete fortress on all sides. Both would be fairly easy to get through -- it was the not being noticed part that was going to be difficult. Her appearance alone was sure to set off alarms, both literally and figuratively. Still, she had the cover of night to go by, a blessing if there ever was one.

She could see thermal images of soldiers asleep in the barracks. There only seemed to be a few standing guard, though multiple security cameras barred her path. She wasn't aiming for any of the weapons that were stockpiled here -- just the communication lines. This was the only place she'd stumbled across thus far that had an antenna capable of reaching deep space, her only connection to the stars.

<"The easternmost doorway seems to be the fastest route,"> En said.

"But the northwest entrance only has one guard. If we go in through that way, it might take a little longer, but we're less likely to get noticed."

<"And what do you propose we do if we do get noticed?">

"Honestly? I say we run like hell."

The fence was fairly easy to get over, and while floating above it, Eilee wondered for a second why they assumed such a low fence would keep anything but vermin out. Two security cameras on the outside of the building were similarly easy to get through. Their cyclic motion made it easy to access the door while they were both looking away. The door itself, however, was by far the simplest obstacle. All she had to do was kick it down and practically waltz in.

<"Biosignature detected around the left corridor."> En signal was mental this time.

"Calculate Battle Power." The being's energy formed a silhouette on the screen and a line jutted from it, leading to a set of numbers in the upper left corner of the screen. They began to climb steadily, stopping at around 3,000, an unusually high statistic. "Are you sure this is an Earthling?" she asked.

<"I can neither confirm nor deny that without full spectrum analysis. You'll have to move close enough to see him.">

"Well, fuck."

Creno rarely slept unless his training was so intensive that it made him completely exhausted. On his bed after a long and hard day's work, Creno did not know the challenge that would await him that night. He breathed, his chest going up and down with each controlled breath. He thought of many things as he attempted to calm the turmoil in his soul. Mostly, he thought of home. He had long since abandoned his family's household to seek his own fortune and glory. Creno was a man by Saiyan standards and had been so for many years since. Sitting in a lotus position, Creno's Ki burned like a lantern in the night. It was a golden and bright brilliance that cascaded around his body. The light moved in a steadily circular fashion, rotating around the man like a sphere. That was the shape of his aura too, a brilliantly glowing sphere. The colour was a golden white tone that lit up the dark in the chamber. Shadows danced about Creno's person as he meditated, concentrating on what he oft thought about those days. Home. Not Earth, he never quite adapted to Earth way of life. He never quite adapted to the way The Humans lived their lives, or the constant wars they fought against one another.

As a Saiyan, warfare was second nature. From youth, The Saiyans of Vegeta trained rigorously in the siege tactics of their people. It was a horrendous form of training. Creno had undergone several phases of his training but his Father had seen the type of man that Creno was becoming. Deciding it best to relocate in his weakened state, Creno's Father took him and his family to the distant world of Earth. Far from the planet Vegeta and it's "center of the universe" mentality. Creno had abhorred his Father for that and developed a distaste for the weakened Saiyan's decisions. Though soon, Creno's temporary hate and angst had become a newly discovered respect. Creno then decided it time to join Earth's Military as a cadet and work his way up the ranks. That's how he found himself in The Royal Guard's cadet barracks, along with many other rookie Soldiers. Soldier Third Class they were called. It was Creno's goal to become Soldier First Class. As he thought of home, Creno had no way of detecting the intruder. He did not yet possess The Warrior capacity of Ki Sense. It was beyond his skill, and he did not have a Scouter.

So all he could do was meditate in silence. In that lotus position, timing each breath he took with the clock that tocked in his chamber. There were several other rookies asleep in the bed room chamber as well. Creno's meditation did not bother them since they were too exhausted to be disturbed by a light. When Creno thought of home, he felt his heart racing quickly. It was a sort of nostalgic excitement that filled him. He thought of his training oft, carefully reviewing technique and the teachings of his instructors. Creno wanted to become a Saiyan Warrior in his own right. He was determined to bring his family, his clan, the honour that it properly deserved. Creno knew that when his Father fell from grace, the prestige that his family once had, since then, was gone. Vegeta was a world of Warriors and there was no place for the weak. Those were rejected. Creno no longer felt anger towards his Father's betrayal, but he did feel longing to be back home and training amongst his brothers on Vegeta. When the third hour past midnight struck, Creno suddenly felt an urge to get something to eat. He was hungry, and slid out of bed, naked, and began to walk towards the mesh-hall.

Eilee crept down the hall, floating as opposed to walking to avoid making a sound. At the end, it led into a separate passage with a number of doors going along it. Two were large, double doors that led into what her sensors identified as the mess hall. Two small windows were cut into either door and she cautiously peered through one.

Standing where the line would be during lunch was the guard she had detected earlier. To her utter surprise, he was completely nude, and appeared to be swiping the slop that was left after dinner. As far as she could tell, he was human, the primary sentient species on the planet. But En disagreed.

<"Analysis indicates that the individual is of Saiyan descent,">

"Saiyan? He doesn't look like a Saiyan to me." Eilee replied.

<"There's scarring just above the rectum that would indicate that he once had a tail, but it was removed,"> the A.I. concluded. <"Either way, he doesn't seem to have noticed our presence. It is quite fortunate for us that he is in the mess hall as opposed to on patrol. The path to the communications room doesn't run through there.">

Eilee looked at the map again. Two doors down was another corridor, and in that corridor was the basement staircase. The communications room was right at the end of it. She pulled away from the double doors and started down the hall again, going only a few feet before she saw something flashing in the upper left corner of her eye.

An alarm panel was going off, and the sirens were sounding. Frantically, she looked around and noticed a security camera at the end of the hall she'd come from.

"How the hell did you see that?" she shouted.

<"I would worry less about that and more about your next course of action. Are you going to proceed to the control room or flee?"?

"Are you kidding? We're not here to start trouble -- we're getting out of here."

<"The fastest exit would be the entrance you just came from. The only guard in position--">

"Is the Saiyan, I know."

<"Proceed with caution.">

Before Creno could enjoy a hard-earned meal, the alarm sounded.

Some were silent but more than one were pretty loud. It was a technique used to alert the guards that were in the military installation. Creno suddenly turned towards the other end of the hallway and saw a girl he had never seen before. Frowning, The Soldier carefully observed the girl to determined her general threat level. Who the hell is that!? Creno thought to himself as he looked at her. Then, he decided it was best to take control of the situation at hand. Creno activated a Speed Burst and dashed towards the girl as quickly as he could. She had brought attention to herself.

Creno stopped roughly a few paces directly in front of the girl, sizing her up.

He snapped his knuckles quickly. Then carefully observed her. His eyes were narrowed to thin slits as he studied the girl, his muscles quivering as he stood in place. Is she a threat? What the hell is she doing here!? The alarm, a few minutes later, had roused several guards. A small squad came rushing towards Creno's position.

"Soldier Third Class, Valour." Came the call from behind Creno's person. "The intruder is a hostile and must be taken down."

Creno looked over his shoulder for a moment and nodded. "Your orders?" Creno asked.

"Detain the prisoner. We have the base surrounded now." The Soldier said, and Creno nodded.

He turned his attention back to the girl. "I don't know who you are, but it's a bad day for breaking and entering on private property. Sorry to tell you this, but your fate has been decided." Creno spoke in a calm and confident fashion. There was no malice in his voice, only a harsh professionalism despite his current, nude appearance. He was the only one of the soldiers who were nude. Creno had no way of detecting her strength levels, so he simply would attack the strange creature dead on as he normally did.

Detaining implied that he simply needed to knock her on her ass.

He wouldn't go all out unless he absolutely needed to do so. Creno had to be mindful of his fellow soldiers in the installation and they needed to be kept safe at all times. He could hear their weapons being manipulated to their ready position. From there, that was the signal for Creno to attack. In true Saiyan fashion, he raised his hand towards the girl and launched the first volley of his attack. Activating a potent, but admittedly weak, Ki Wave technique. Creno felt power crackling through the air, his power, and it was launched in a magnificent assault towards the girl's body. He released several bursts of Ki in this fashion, two all together. He hoped to catch her off guard with something so that he could go back to getting his meal. He hated being interrupted when he was on off-hours, but this situation seemed like one that needed his immediate attention.

Creno had trained hard, he was ready.

Eilee was interrupted almost as soon as she started down the hall. En gave her a wordless mental signal, telling her to be on guard. Immediately, she froze up and guarded her face with armored limbs. Sensors connected to her mind alerted her to a presence approaching from the left, but she couldn't identify anything visually. She shuddered when the nude Saiyan popped into view, blocking her path, but didn't attempt to strike.

The man cracked his knuckles and stared her down with a fierce expression. He was poised to strike, but didn't make any movements beyond that. Then suddenly, there was a call from down the hallway. Eilee detected a small cluster of energy signatures, perhaps six in total. She could hear them shouting at him down the hall, barking orders.

"Soldier Third Class, Valour. The intruder is a hostile and must be taken down."

"Your orders?" the naked soldier said.

"Detain the prisoner. We have the base surrounded now."

"Oh. That sounds lovely," Eilee thought. She could sense that they were quickly assembling themselves, getting in a defensive formation around the building. She only hoped that none of them could fly.

"I don't know who you are, but it's a bad day for breaking and entering on private property." The Saiyan's voice was professional and upstanding -- a soldier if there ever was one. Yet, Eilee couldn't shake the feeling that this was little more than his justification for bloodsport. "Sorry to tell you this, but your fate has been decided."

She didn't reply. This was no time for words -- it was fight or flight, and he wasn't letting her do the latter. The soldier raised his palm and alarms went off in her head as ki gathered. Her arm already in position, she extended it slightly to catch the beam in her palm. The energy suffused into her armor, giving her hand a thin aura.

The Saiyan fired off one more beam of ki, but she was ready for it this time. She moved her outstretched hand ever so slightly so that it was directly in front of the blast. As it was about a meter away, the collected energy was released, matching the new beam's power. Putting an extra burst of energy into it, Eilee pushed the attack forward and watched as the Saiyan's beam was steadily overwhelmed.

It is called Negate, remember this lesson well.

Creno mysteriously heard an unfamiliar voice in his head. It was explaining exactly what had happened and in what order, and that was somewhat of a comfort. When his own attack came right back at him, Creno frowned for a moment and cursed in anger. The blast pierced his secondary ki wave attack, and soon, it had overwhelmed his fledgeling power. However, Creno did not flee. He faced the outcome of the event without fear. A blast came in with frightening speed, Creno did not attempt to block. There was not enough time to. Instead, he simply took the incoming explosion dead on.

The hallway was filled with a brilliant and cascading light.

Energy swelled everywhere, bouncing off the walls and splashing on several nearby guards. Creno had taken the hit without faltering one moment, which showed that The Saiyan had tremendous potential for future wars. As the dust settled and the brilliant energy swelled back into nothingness, several tendrils of the energy visibly swelled through the air. Creno coughed a few times as if to check to see if he was still, in fact, alive. Clutching at his chest, where he'd been struck, Creno looked down and saw a large burning mark upon him. This meant that he'd sustained a tremendous amount of damage if he'd actually been hurt. Creno shook his head for a moment fighting off fatigue and exhaustion. He stood back up, observing the mysterious female creature before him. Immediately, he realized that he was in for a hell of a battle. The Negate takes your move and turns it against you. Then an attack of your opponent pierces right through yours, causing all sorts of chaos. The voice said. Creno shook his head. Well that's definitely good news... He thought to himself and he continued to stand strong.

"Negate." Creno said carefully so she could hear him. "That was a good move." However, he had been given orders by a superior officer. He would have to follow through with the orders, or die trying. "I am rarely impressed." Creno said carefully. "You are clearly quite strong. It is nice to fight someone like you for a change." Creno popped his neck a bit and steadied himself. He focused. There was a lot of work that needed doing and Creno could not disobey a direct order. As he stood there he moved into a carefully placed Assault Stance, the elegant stance activated. Once he moved in that position, he smiled at her, or what he assumed was a her anyway. Creno suddenly activated a Speed Burst and performed a basic Rush Attack in her general direction. He was taking a gamble. He figured Ki attacks would virtually be useless against her. So he had to fall back to completely physical moves. It was only at that moment that he wished that he were armed. A weapon would have provided some sort of a comfort in this one-sided conflict. As he attacked her, he lowered his body so that he would attempt to ram her with his own. He moved his powerfully built shoulder towards her form so that if he actually hit her, it would be little more than a fancy tackle. Creno did not yell any battle cry, taunt, or other sound. He simply moved. He knew he was facing a superior opponent and every second counted, if he could only find some sort of an edge...he would be okay. Focus, Creno. Creno heard the voice in his head once more....

Though Eilee's beam of ki was more narrow, it pierced the other attack, then widened, destroying it from the inside. The soldier was unable to resist the incoming attack. There wasn't enough time to block or run for cover. The only thing there was time for was a swear so quiet it was practically whispered. Even then, his words were cut short when the blast made impact. An explosive flash marred visibility for half a second and destroyed some of the surrounding concrete. The manmade stone turned to dust and clouded the narrow hall. Only the twosome's silhouettes were visible.

The Saiyan had skidded back a few feet, but he was still standing, still conscious. He was made of sterner stuff than Eilee thought -- or at least had hoped. He gave a hacking cough and leaned over slightly. A combination of a burn and a bruise now took center stage on his chest. He was quick to cover it with his palm. He shook his head like a wet dog before resuming eye contact.

"Negate." He tried to speak in a clear voice, but was somewhat hoarse due to the combination of dust in his lungs and the wound right above them. "That was a good move. I am rarely impressed. You are clearly quite strong. It is nice to fight someone like you for a change."

At least twice during his choppy speech, Eilee had gotten the urge to run, but he was still blocking her path. She'd have to go through him in order to progress, but she didn't want to plow him down while he was talking. That would be... rude. Yes, that would be rude. Instead, she simply sat back and watched as stretched his neck and got into a low stance, like a tiger ready to pounce. She had never even bothered to lower her guard.

Just as suddenly as he had first appeared, the Saiyan rocketed forward with his fist ready to punch. As he extended his arm, Eilee shifted again, trying to grab him by the side of his arm. The armor surrounding her "hands" seemed to melt into a mitten-like structure and attempted to down tightly. The computer systems connected to her consciousness began running calculations, finding the best possible course of action. A diagram of his arm -- bone, musculature, and sinew -- was displayed on a sort of internal screen. Suddenly, she jerked and attempted to twist his arm a full 360 degrees clockwise, a very painful position by her math.

However, that would certainly not be enough to incapacitate him. She attempted to give him a quick punch to the face, but it was intended to be little more than a distraction. From there, she tried grabbing the same hand with her other arm and flew over his head, landing firmly on the ground behind him. She used it to push off of as she tried throwing his weight over her head. From there, it would just be a matter of releasing it so he'd go flying into the back wall. With luck, he'd be stunned long enough that she could exit through the unguarded hall.

Without realizing exactly what had happened, Creno suddenly found himself in an extremely unexpected position. She had moved so quickly that it was nearly impossible for his eyes alone to keep up with her movements Then, an intense pain pierced his shoulder as his arm was effectively twisted in a way that it shouldn't have been twisted. She athletically moved around him so that Creno's sole reaction was a loud, almost bestial cry from somewhere deep within. His arm was on the verge of snapping in several places, Creno knew, but he would not surrender. He was trained to keep going until the very last ounce of strength was used up. He was trained to fight with everything he had, at all times.

When the resounding pop filled the hallway, Creno knew what had happened. She had dislocated his shoulder and broke several bones in his arm. The main bone that suffered the most damage was his the radius bone in his forearm. His arm had developed a ghastly shape and bruises appeared where the tearing was most critical. Then, Creno found himself on his face several yards away. She had tossed him forward like a sack of crap. Creno was also struck quickly, in the face, before she had actually broken his arm. But that punch did not seem as serious as her counter was. Creno growled as he skidded, hurt, in agony.

He could barely hear several panicked shouts down the hall.

He knew that it was his comrades barking orders, but Creno was not concerned with that at this point.

The thought to flee never once crossed his mind, he was too proud. Creno would never surrender as long as he was conscious and able to do...something. Creno coughed and growled a few more moments, and then finally managed to stand. Pain burned throughout his body and he stood on shaking knees for a moment or three. Creno turned to look at the mysterious woman and that was when the impact of his broken arm actually hit him like a ton of bricks. Creno screamed. The pain was so intense that it nearly brought The Saiyan Warrior to tears. Intense. He clutched at his arm for a moment or two as it hung uselessly at his side. He wasn't even entirely certain as to how she had managed to break it in the first place, but she had. I don't see many good options here... Creno gritted his teeth, clenching his jaws. That was the first moment of the battle that he had actually began to doubt his capability as a Warrior.

Everything that he'd thrown at her, everything, had amounted to absolutely nothing. I can't harm her, she's too strong and too fast. Creno thought to himself as he closed his eyes allowing himself to focus on the pain he felt. After a moment, he got used to his situation, and allowed his useless arm to hang freely at his side. He kept his eyes locked on her person and weakly moved back into an Assault Stance. His body was shaking visibly with each moment that passed, and his bruises were swollen. Creno needed to see a Medic, quickly, but knew there was no time. He had to stop this creature where she stood. After he had moved into the stance, he started to concentrate, but did nothing else. He merely stared at her with that burning...something in his eyes. His face was a mask twisted in the pain he felt, even then, he appeared to be quite the handsome fellow.

The ball was in her corner.

As Eilee twisted her foe's arm, a loud cracking resounded off the walls. She flinched at the sound, unnerved by the damage she had unexpectedly done. Still, she followed through with throwing him across the room. He slammed into the concrete wall at the end of the hallway and laid there like a rag doll.

Eilee's vision switched from the normal spectrum to x-ray. She scanned his body, noting that she had indeed fractured the bones in his right arm. Her antennae twitched nervously before she was interrupted.

<"Eilee, what are you doing? You need to get out of there!"> En snapped.

She could hear the shouts of soldiers outside, but stood in place like a statue. "We... we can't just leave him here, can we?" she said audibly.

<"His health is none of our concern. This planet should be able to provide proper medical treatment for a fractured bone. It's not that primitive. You should be worried about your own health.">

"Alright..." Her body turned around to face the other side of the hall, but her head only moved halfway. She looked back at the soldier one last time before departing.

She lifted up off the ground and a golden light surrounded her armor. Just as she was ready to flee, she sensed that the soldier behind her had forced himself to his feet. Despite having a broken arm, he was still ready and willing to fight -- truly a Saiyan if there ever was one.

<"What are you waiting for? It's clear he's fine.">

"Just because he's standing up doesn't mean he's fine! He's probably in shock right now, or, or..."

<"Move!">

She finally cracked and followed En's instructions. The aura around her grew brighter, bright enough to fill the hall from floor to ceiling. She jetted down the corridor like a golden bullet, seeking a way out.

She let me go?! She had me beat, I don't understand... Creno thought to himself as he watched her leave the scene of the battle. Creno was a warrior through and through and the idea of running away had never even crossed his mind. She let me go... Creno looked at her leaving and sighed, moving into a more relaxed position and out of his Assault Stance. The battle was effectively over. He would return the favor. Several soldiers finally made their way to the position where the battle had taken place. Creno did not turn to address him, he knew why they were there. She let me go... He thought again as her image became smaller and smaller.

It was then that Creno realized how much pain he was actually in. His chest burned like hell and his arm was completely numb. He clutched at his chest at that moment, growling in agony, he should have been more careful. Next time, I'll be certain to repay the favor. Creno thought as he looked down towards his chest. The burn mark was serious, but nothing was acidic so he wasn't overly concerned. It would probably just leave a scar of some sort.

"Soldier Third Class, Valour. Report!" Came the yell from behind.

Creno knew that order well, he also knew the anger behind the words. She let me go... The thought would repeat itself over and over in his head. She had him beat, likely she could have easily destroyed the entire base and all of it's troops if she wanted to. But the single reality of the situation at hand was that she had spared them. I don't know what she was after, but it couldn't have been anything good. Creno turned his attention to the mess hall and looked at it for a moment. I doubt she was after our baked beans. They aren't like galaxy known or something... Then it dawned on him. They were relatively near to the general Command Room. Of course! Comm-equipment! Creno smacked his forehead with his healthy hand.

"Shit! How could I have been so stupid!?" Creno cursed and then turned around to face his angry superiors.

"Well, what is your report!?" The ranking officer asked.

"I have a feeling it was after the equipment in Command Room." Creno said. "But it is just a hunch, I have no concrete evidence to support the hypothesis." Creno shook his head. He had probably adverted a disaster, but his superiors would only see a failure.

"Why didn't you capture it?" Came the unavoidable question.

"Are you kidding me?" Creno suddenly found himself saying. "Did you not see what just happened!? It pretty much kicked my ass, I'm lucky to be alive!" I held it at bay, but they won't see it that way. Fuck.

"You were given a direct order, Soldier Third Class Valour." I know what this is. It's military brass placing blame somewhere. God damn this...I should be back home on Vegeta in their army. A Saiyan would understand what the hell just happened... "I am afraid this will be due course for reprimand..." The superior officer said.

"I didn't do anything wrong!" Creno could no longer hold his tongue. "I'm the reason it didn't go on a rampage in the first place and outright kill you all!"

"Soldier First Class Valour..." The superior officer began.

"That's enough, Erick." Came a familiar voice from further down the hall.

Creno knew that voice enough that it could only be one person, Axis Cruz. Soldier First Class.

Creno saw her shapely figure emerge from further down the hall and walk towards them.

"Stand down, Erick." Axis Cruz ordered, and he begrudgingly did so.

"Lady Cruz..." Erick, the superior officer began. "We have a situation here."

Cruz suddenly shot a sharp look at Erick. "Yes we do. I will not have my soldiers going rogue and acting out of their proper ranks. Stand down, Erick. I will not repeat myself. You are already doing a lot of harm with this event." Cruz said she kept her eyes on Creno the entire time.

"Fine...I will withdraw for now." Erick said and growled as he walked away from the two warriors.

Creno had always respected Axis Cruz. She was a powerful Warrior and had always treated the young Saiyan well. "You're hurt, Creno." She said quietly with a voice of sincere concern. "What happened here?"

Creno nodded towards Axis Cruz and then proceeded to explain the situation. "We were invaded." Creno said. "It was a high level Warrior, probably Construct from what I could tell of it's physiology. But I have never seen a Construct like that before." Creno said carefully. "It had power. I could barely keep up with it." Creno was seriously injured, and that was evident by his limply hanging arm. "It was able to pretty much counter whatever I through at it. With a high degree of skill. Our weapons would not have slowed it down." Creno said in a matter of fact sort of tone.

"Damn." Axis Cruz said. "I will have to talk to our leaders to provide extra security and defenses. We can ill afford another creature sneaking up on us like that." Axis Cruz said, she was a wise leader. "Creno. You need to rest in a rejuve tube." She said, Creno knew that was basically an order, and would of course, obey. "Let me see your arm." She said carefully and walked over towards him. She inspected his arm with the scouter she had equipped. Creno flinched at that point when she touched his arm but did not protest. "It's broken in at least two places." Cruz said.

Creno nodded. "There is video surveillance of the battle." Creno pointed towards a camera somewhat down the hall. It would have captured the whole event in real-time video feed. "I was certain to lead the battle near one of the comm-units." Creno said.

She nodded. "Excellent. The data will be analyze and we will determine the nature of your attacker." Cruz said. "In the meantime, Valour, go get some rest. You've earned it."

Creno felt tired, he started to walk but fell down quickly on his knees. She reacted and held Creno in her arms. "Having trouble standing..." Creno said. He had several bruises all over his body.

"I shall help you towards the medical ward." She said carefully. Then, she took off her leather trench coat, and wrapped it around Creno's nude body. "There you go." She said with a sly expression on her face.

"Let's get a move on." Creno felt tired, hurt, and one last time the same thought repeated itself in his head.

A streak of gold burst through the door and out into the field surrounding the camp. Immediately, Eilee was met by a small troop of soldiers, much like the one she had just seen, but thankfully clothed. Her sensors indicated that these ones were, fortunately, human, and normal humans at that.

One off to her left let loose a few rounds at her face, but she motioned with one hand and the bullets were immobilized, suspended in thin air. She dropped her metallic hand and they fell to the ground like silver rain. The other soldiers were speechless for a moment, but raised their weapons nonetheless. Before another shot was fired, she swiped at the group's feet with her tail, knocking down a fair number, but not particularly injuring them at the same time.

As the soldiers tried to push themselves to their feet, Eilee was off, her aura propelling her past the sound barrier as she flew away from the fortress. She looked back just once, thinking about the Saiyan she had just injured. That was the first time in many years she had done anything like that. Despite being a mercenary, she was a medical officer -- not made for the front line. The very idea of broken bones made her feel uneasy, and she could hardly remember the last time she dislocated someone's arm.

Suddenly, her train of thought came crashing to a halt. Behind her was a bright flare behind a casing of steel. The missile had locked onto her heat signature and was tailing at a speed even she couldn't outrun. The second it made contact with her leg, there was an ear-piercing explosion, enough to knock her out of the sky. En's systems managed to stabilize her flight before hitting the ground, but she still hit it hard, skidding across several meters of dirt.

She pushed against the earth and pulled her face out of the muck. Her leg was sore, but the metal surrounding it wasn't dented. She rubbed it gently, mumbling, "Let's not do that again."
