Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

His scouter was going absolutely nuts; little pings and flashes lit up the golden display as he flew through the air. He'd been homing in on an emerging ki signature for the past few minutes, courtesy of Broly's directions. The boy was to get as powerful as he could, as fast as he could. As it so happened, the strongest warrior in the known universe did not enjoy stragglers in his midst. Kale couldn't blame him, really. The Underworld had been the same way.

They had been ready to throw him at a behemoth like Broly, after all. At the very least, Broly was sending him up against targets he could handle. The power level he'd clocked wasn't even at the tens of thousands yet, and was registered to a human. Of course, that was all he knew about it, but he doubted that it could peak much higher. Human potential was far more limited than that of the Saiyans. He knew Teparys' strength could peak at a level just higher than his own, when it's resting strength wasn't even half.

Kale knew Broly's resting strength still managed to surpass the second strongest warrior he knew of. However, the only human he knew, that Aubrey or Auburn or whatever her name was; she didn't have a strength anywhere near as flexible, and she was a mixed blood. She was human and Saiyan, a combination he wasn't quite sure he approved of. Granting the humans the power of a Saiyan warrior was just irresponsible.

Yeah, they blew up planets and shit, but they did it responsibly. They did what they were told to, by a force much stronger than themselves. Hell, the only reason Kale'd gathered the courage to leave it was because Broly had provided him with a better alternative. Then again, choosing between a tyrant and a schizophrenic Super Saiyan wasn't exactly the best of decisions to make. It was like choosing between a death full of work and a death full of less work. Not very appetizing either way, but clear enough.

He was torn from his inner dialogue by a disturbance on the horizon. Birds were flying east, patternless and scattered, indicating trouble. Birds did not abandon flight patterns unless their little brains were too full of fear to do anything else. His mouth fell open in surprise as they soared across the skies, little black bodies struggling to fly faster. Something must've scared the hell out of them, then. That something was probably worth investigating. It was close enough to the base to be related.

He accelerated, body soaring over the base (which appeared to be on full alert), leaving a cinnamon colored streak across the now starry sky. He didn't know how long he'd been flying for, but he had to be close to some kind of discovery. The young Saiyan's right hand rose to his earpiece, dextrous fingers ordering his scouter to seek out any nearby ki signatures. Immediately, small readouts worked their way across his heads up display, picking out numbers in descending order.

At the top of the list, stood the number he'd noticed before. Below that was a smaller number, registered to some residual energy from a human weapon detonation. Though he wasn't quite sure if that was ki, the explosion itself had apparently been massive enough to leave residual thermal energy in the air and in the forestry below; where trees were shredded into paper-like confetti and the grass was scorched black.

There was also the matter of a rather large, and apparently makeshift, landing strip. The Saiyan's jaw tightened as he focused, body descending toward it as his ki rose. He was going to head down and investigate; if Broly found out he was afraid of a crashed plane or patrol, he'd never let him forget it. Oh god, and that girl Aubrey'd pick at him for weeks, taking advantage of Broly's protection. He still didn't know why the Legendary Warrior of his people defended some hybrid wretch.

His feet touched down on a layer of cooled soot, probably from the tips of trees closest to the explosion. Small pockets of remaining fire dotted the area, for the most part extinguished by either falling soil or the rain of ash that had followed the explosion. Kale had been in enough scuffles to know what a battlefield looked like, and yet this was lacking several signs of struggle. The trail of soot and ash continued on through the woodlands for several meters, ending in what looked like a clearing.

Still, the size and the signs disturbed his natural battle-sense. There were no minor burns, only the burns from a massive explosion. Even if it had been with human weapons, there would have been shell casings or even bodies, maybe a parachute from a jet. However, all he could see was a trail made by what appeared to be a body. His fingers touched down on the button labeled 'SCAN' once more.

”Huh? Nothing? Not even a bird or...Or a squirrel, or scavenger crew?”, there were no human patrols detectable, no animals, nothing. All the birds had flown away, all the woodland creatures had run...and where the hell were the humans? Didn't they tend to investigate crashes like this? Releasing a bitter breath, the Saiyan strode forward down the forged path, his energy rising around him in swirls of red.

”I always end up with the creepy shit.”

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Eilee 8/12/2012, 4:51 pm

A glint of silver stood out against a background of green. The golden lights that made up Eilee's eye's flickered, like she was blinking. The being was examining her leg in a very paranoid fashion and was almost upset that she couldn't find any physical damage. The concussive force of the blast still left her energy form feeling sore, though there was nothing to indicate she was injured.

She brushed dirt and soot off of the limb to see that the metals were perfectly intact. Her hide seemed indestructible, but today she had come face to face with her own mortality for the first time since the war. She was never a front line soldier -- just an enhanced medical officer who could fight if she needed to. But she could see those days vividly in her mind's eye when every day had been a struggle between life and death.

She shuddered slightly and shoved the thought out of her mind. Eilee stretched out her leg a few times. It was cramped at first, but she quickly got used to the feeling and floated up to her feet. She took a few steps on it, but quickly reverted to hovering.

<"Your systems are functioning perfectly, Eilee. You shouldn't worry about your leg,"> En broke in.

"I wasn't worried about my leg..." she mumbled.

<"I am not a therapist, but perhaps talking about it would help to--">

An alarm in their heads suddenly went off. Their sensory systems were picking up a nearby a nearby source of energy, and they both went silent. An image of the entity's ki signature showed up on a 360 degree display. The individual's battle power was high -- higher than Eilee's it would seem. She scanned him from head to toe, and though she couldn't see him visually, she quickly became aware that the individual was a Saiyan. That wasn't a good sign.

She had just encountered a Saiyan only a few minutes ago, in a military facility, though she presumed the rest of the people there were all human. Perhaps this one was a friend of the one she had just fought. That there was practically a 50/50 chance of him being hostile. The Saiyan from before didn't seem to want to harm him -- he was just doing his job. She feared this one would be the same. However, there was still a chance that he was simply seeking her out of curiosity as opposed to reconnaissance. But she wasn't ready and willing to risk that.

He wasn't too far off -- she could hear him speaking. He seemed to be speaking to himself in a boisterous voice, though she knew it was also possible that he was talking into a microphone. She tuned her antennae in to area to scan for radio waves, but didn't pick up a frequency -- just a smooth jazz station. He was probably talking to himself.

"Huh? Nothing? Not even a bird or... Or a squirrel, or scavenger crew?" he muttered. "I always end up with the creepy shit."

Suddenly, there was a surge in his battle power. She could see red light from her peripherals and craned her head around to see a fountain of it, like a small forest fire. Immediately, she thought to run, to fly away, but knew it would probably just give away her position. She'd be shot down like a clay pigeon.

She readied herself for a battle, her sensors tuned up to their maximum. Her face was guarded carefully with the sides of her arms as she prepared for a fight.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Broly 8/13/2012, 8:05 am

His eyes widened briefly as he came across what appeared to be some mechanical alien. What he had originally figured to be a downed jet was actually some strange creature, which had apparently donned a battle suit. He couldn't really blame it; Earth was not exactly the safest place for the new and exotic. However, the curiosity inside of him was now stirring. The suit looked as though it hadn't been touched and yet the surrounded area was littered with energy residue.

Some kind of explosion had managed to bring it down, but not finish it off? That itself was fairly interesting. Kale's hand rose once more to his scouter as he examined the suit from top to bottom, taking in the weird creature for all it was worth. Unlike Broly, he could not sense energy by himself; he was forced to rely on the scouter to detect the strength of his foes, and even that was not truly his own. According to the lore of his people, the Saiyans had obtained it after battling the Tuffles.

The little device spent several seconds whirring and whizzing, it's internal computer trying to lock onto the source he was scanning. When it finally calmed down, the display lit up with the same detections it had before; residual thermal readings and distant humans. Did that mean the suit was also capable of hiding someone's ki? Slowly, the young Saiyan's mouth curled into a grim grin. A suit that hid the energy of the user, that also granted them what appeared to be a serious damage immunity.

”That's a nice suit you've got there...”, he said. He was not very concerned about his opponent's combat capabilities. They had managed to let themselves get hit by a human missile, after all. The crimson-y energy surrounding the man's body slowly tightened to his figure, illuminating his face to provide a more menacing visage. His own pale green battle armor probably offered less protection than the full-metal suit worn by his new acquaintance.

Considering the fact that he'd never been hit by a missile, he already considered himself a more worthy recipient of this impressive looking battle suit. His right hand rose tentatively to chest height, palm leveling at this new creature. It was floating as he took aim; he couldn't tell if it was because of his opponent's masked energy, or the suit's propulsion system. Then again, it didn't really matter. Even if this thing could fly, he was probably more agile.

He'd spent his entire life training to be faster than the opposition. A scout did not survive very long by being slow or hesitant. However, in this moment, his years of training were not the item on display. He wore the expression of a curious child as the creature took some kind of battle stance, his eyes lit up with a vague interest. Would the suit survive one of his blasts? Probably. If it didn't, he didn't need it after all. The question remained though; if he killed the owner inside of the suit, would he be able to get it off?

The energy amassed around his body began to filter into his palm as he examined his still foe; if he over did it, he might end the scuffle before it got fun. For now, he'd go light and see what this thing was capable of. His scouter slowly whirred to life once more, picking up the rapidly escalating level of ki in his hands. He could feel the heat, the blood rushing through his veins as adrenaline washed over him.

”I want it!”

The blast burst forth from his hand, accompanied by the boom of thunder and the crackling of lightning. He had put enough power into the pulse to make it dangerous to most creatures, and certainly strong enough to erase the life out of some already wounded creature he'd managed to stumble across in the woods. Of course, that was assuming it was injured. He hadn't exactly seen any blood or been able to get a status report, but the trail on the ground hadn't made itself.

As leaves were kicked up around his feet and blown away by the wind left in the blast's wake, Kale's other hand rose to take aim at his target once more. His right hand pulled back in toward his body while his left released a quick pair of pulse-like energy blasts, more to finish off a possibly weakened defense than anything else. If whatever it was had managed to survive his first wave, logic dictated it would either be susceptible to a follow up or prepared to defend further. If the latter were true, he would pound the thing into submission from a range.

No matter how well versed in the art of defense it might've been, the concussive force behind each of these blasts, combined with the explosive force, was enough to level a small village. He was a specialist at artillery-shell like blasts; high force with the kick of a mule. It was the other half of the reason he'd been chosen as a scout. He could hit his opponents at a long range, and keep himself at a long range.

While the wind settled, Kale's hair fell back into place and a bead of sweat rolled down his brow. If he got lucky, the display of firepower would eradicate his opponent where they stood. If he got even luckier, he'd get a good fight out of whoever it was that owned the suit. Either way, his day was improving. A good battle meant some stress relief; something that, after spending an entire day with the Legendary Super Saiyan, was more than necessary.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Eilee 8/13/2012, 7:47 pm

Eilee could see the outline of the Saiyan's ki. It stood out like a beacon a dim evening among even the liveliest of forests. Everything around him was affected by the aura. It flattened the grass, pushed back the green, and caused wildlife to flee. They were wise enough to know that this could be the end of them.

As he approached, the trees seemed to bend over like subjects in awe of their king. Yet, the Saiyan was anything but royalty. He wore a green suit of armor, more akin to a knight, but the scuffs and dirt indicated that he was little more than a peasant. An elite among the peasantry perhaps, but a peasant nonetheless.

The device on his eye -- Eilee immediately recognized it as a standard issue Scouter -- was whizzing around, but couldn't detect anything but the life forces of the woods. Her ki was invisible because it wasn't truly ki -- not in the way that the rest of the universe described it anyway.

The Saiyan's expression changed. Though she wasn't always familiar with the body language of flesh-covered beings, Eilee immediately recognized it as a sadistic expression, and her sensors confirmed this notion. She knew he was ready to attack, it was only a matter of when.

"That's a nice suit you've got there..." His voice seemed calm enough, but it was dripping with mental instability, with animal instinct. If a tiger could talk before pouncing on its prey, this is what it would sound like. En was wrong. It wasn't Eilee the person who needed a therapist around here.

Of course, the Saiyan was also wrong in his judgement, perhaps blinded by his primitive intuitions. The armor she wore wasn't a suit. It hadn't been a suit in decades, and it was never going to be a suit again. Not even if he could somehow strip it from her carcass.

His expression changed yet again, indicating intrigue, intrigue like a shark ready to bite into something in order to examine it. Her senors indicated a rapid rise in blood pressure -- he was ready to go in for the kill.

"I want it!"

With his feral howl, a burst of ki shot out of his hand. It was somewhat weak considering his level of power, but she suspected that it was little more than a scouting blast. He was testing her, making sure that she could hold up to his attack -- and she did.

The instant his blast made contact with her armored hide, her defense systems kicked in. The energy from the attack seemed to suffuse into the metals, giving it a reddish tint for all of an instant. However, red quickly turned to orange, and orange to gold. The color soon took on a new life of its own in the form of the aura that surrounded her.

However, the Saiyan was not deterred by this. He blindly fired off two more orbs of ki. For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Eilee's mind was processing information at a different speed, but it wasn't all perfectly conscious thoughts. It didn't take the form of words.

This was a war zone, now, she recognized. It was a war zone no different from the one that had covered her entire planet. The Saiyan was the enemy, and though she was a mere medical officer, she would have to fight for her cause and the right to live. His humanity and motivations were not to be considered in the fleeting moments of battle. All that mattered was survival. She would think about the consequences later.

The red bursts of energy looked like the stains of blood the ground had been littered with that day. The first one hit her dead on, and she could feel the concussive pain of the blow. Like the missile, though, her armor didn't even register the attack.

With a sudden rush of energy, the golden aura around her expanded, and she rocketed forward, becoming little more than a streak of light. The next blow hit even harder as she plowed into it, but this time, she hardly realized it struck her. She was in the zone now and didn't have time to think of it.

Within a fraction of a second, she was less than a foot away from the Saiyan's face. Eilee expression was static and cold as she reached out for him, not that it could ever be any different. She pulsed with ki like a beating heart. Suddenly, it surged forth from veil above her skin, almost seeming to reach out and grab the Saiyan. At the same time, she attempted to grab him, literally. As ki rushed out of her body like lightning, the Saiyan's ki rushed into hers, rejuvenating her and fueling her attack. From there, she tried to clutch him tightly, her mitten hands morphing into claws, going through a state of liquid metal in between. She went to try hoisting him over her head, intent on flipping him over and slamming him into the ground below.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Broly 8/13/2012, 9:11 pm

Kale grunted as his first blast seemed to dissolve in a shower of sparks and light, his cinnamon colored energy going to waste as it was diffused. Whoever was inside of the suit knew how to handle energy; that much was certain. Still, that would not deter him or shake him from his course. He had committed, it was too late to back out of a confrontation anymore-- not that he wanted to. Something about the prospect of a battle with a strange and exotic creature had his blood pumping faster than it had in months.

It took his second blast like a trooper, unable to dissolve it with the same technique it had used the first time. That established that the defense probably had limits to the amount of energy it could handle. Red light vanished into a puff of pink smoke as it collided with the thing's body, and almost immediately his opponent practically exploded with a strong current of energy. His scouter still picked up nothing, but he noted the level of strength evident. It was strong enough to displace the dirt he had kicked up with his first blast.

When the second blast made contact, the creature trucked through it, body barreling head on toward the Saiyan with all the gall of a bull in mid-stride. He couldn't say he blamed it; there was no quicker way to a Saiyan's heart than through his chest, after all. It's golden aura continued to flare wildly around it as Kale prepared himself. He knew if he backed off then he would be at a disadvantage. However, he had already managed to land the first strike, albeit rather ineffective. He was in the lead here.

He watched while the creature sped up in it's charge, face blank as a hand came gliding toward him through the air. He'd have to be fuckin' stupid to let that touch him; he didn't know what this suit was capable of, but this thing was obviously in the battle mindset. It's entire body was covered with glowing energy of some type, either ki or thermobaric, or thermal; he didn't have any idea. He wasn't the scientist of his new group, nor had he been the brightest in his squad.

”Woah!”

Energy preceded the palm, stretching out toward him in zigs and zags reminiscent of heat lightning. Eyes narrowed, the Saiyan's body fell backwards, his left boot rising quickly through the air. If that energy got a direct hit on him, it'd probably screw his nervous system; but if he could lessen some of the damage or throw the blow off course, that would protect him from a death blow. He couldn't tell if this thing was going for an early victory, but hell, this was combat. He couldn't assume the enemy would spare him, especially since he'd shot first.

A flexweave boot shot upward to make contact with the creature's metallic wrist, hopefully sending both the electricity-like energy and that oddly foreboding grasp off target. He couldn't say he knew what the thing's plans for getting him in it's rather cold paws had been, but he knew damn well he wouldn't have liked them. It was never a good idea to let your opponent land a hand on your chest or shoulder, or face or just about anywhere, really. It was bad practice and the sign of a sloppy fighting style.

Energy quickly burned it's way through the air, eating away at his exposed legs for a fraction of a second before he could pull away. It was clear that he had not gotten off as scott-free as he'd have liked, but it was better than being chewed up by what appeared to be a freshly unleashed pair of claws. He forced himself flat to the ground as his leg came back in toward his body, rolling backwards through the dirt to reestablish some kind of defensive perimeter. He would have to make a second stand, if he wanted to survive this assault.

He hadn't honestly been expecting it to charge him like that. However, while the move was most definitely ballsy, it was not enough to defeat him. She would have to come at him a little harder if she wanted to defeat him. As his body rolled back into standing position, his leg swept it's way through the dirt, establishing a thin line just in front of him. It was as if he was daring her to cross it. However, as if the creation of the line had not been apparent enough, his hand outstretched as he fell into his battle stance.

”Arrivederci, motherfucker.”

He may not have known what it meant in whatever language it was, but it went with the gesture.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Eilee 8/14/2012, 10:59 pm

OOC: As some quick notes, I figured I'd say that you should add Rage to your Rage Pool since you got scraped by my attack. Additionally, according to Brian, since you did get hit with it, your Power Up is null.

Spoiler:

As Eilee reached forward, the Saiyan darted backward. He was quick on his feet, much quicker than she was. Her fatal flaw was that although she could she could calculate information at near-light speeds, her actual reaction time was lucky to be hypersonic.

The opposing warrior seemed to almost be caught off balance as he bounded backwards, almost falling over. But he quickly turned a seemingly detrimental situation into a helpful one. As he flipped back, his foot kicked up, knocking away Eilee's charged arm. The boot around his foot seemed to absorb most of the energy, but it still shot off erratically enough to scathe his bare leg. He narrowly avoided her grasp, but little more than a hair's breath, and he was on the ground now like a capsized turtle.

Quickly, he spun around in the dirt, getting up to his feet like a big city break dancer. In the process, he had shifted the earth beneath him, creating a semi circular line in front of him. He changed stances, getting ready to battle once again. His expression struck her as slightly smug as he said, "Arrivederci, motherfucker."

She paused for a moment to ask a question, though she didn't break eye contact with the Saiyan. En had already translated his words, and "bye" rang through her thoughts. She thought it strange that he would say bye when this battle was just beginning. She knew he wasn't going to let her leave, despite his comment. He wanted her to go on the offensive now. He was practically letting her, and she could see that clearly from his body language. Though tense, he was at rest, and his heart rate was decreasing. The crimson aura from earlier had all but faded away now. The forest was quiet.

Then suddenly, it shook.

It seemed as if the entire area had been overcome by an earthquake, but it was no quake. Eilee was telekinetically controlling her surroundings, moving rocks underneath the soft soil. She could sense them from an internal ground penetrating radar, and was ready to utilize them.

Pointed stones popped up around the Saiyan, like a strange darting out of the shadows. They isolated him on a tiny island of dirt and unsettled the line that he had formed just a moment ago. Then, on her signal, the rocks broke into fine powder, crushed to grains of dust by her psychic energies. The dust swirled through the air, creating a sort of earthen smokescreen for her to hide behind.

Eilee darted forward so quickly that her physical form seemed to vanish. She went around the dirt, so as to avoid displacing the air. When she reappeared, she was behind her foe. She never crossed his line. She scanned his body in a split instant, looking for any weak point she could find. The spinal column was the best place to attack if she wanted to end this quickly, and she could sense the electricity in his nerve transmissions. Her hand morphed into a sort of blunt razor as she lashed out, trying to strike the area where his head met his neck with an alien knife hand.

Of course, her assault was far from over. She needed to make sure he was down for the count. She was convinced he had about the sanity of a rabid animal, and he needed to be incapacitated in order for her to feel safe. He was just as much a danger to the people of Earth as the PTO had been to her homeworld. If she had to cauterize one individual so that a world may live, it would be a deed with little guilt. It was more than a fair trade off.

She was a solider again. This was her battlefield. She did not flinch, did not feel remorse as she tried to drive her knee into the center of his back. For her next strike, she seemed to merge her hands into a single, rounded blunt object and tried smacking him over the head with it. With luck, he would have keeled backwards from the second blow, and in turn, the attack might hit his face. As a coup de grace, she swiped the ground with her tail, attempting to sweep her opponent off his feet, and in turn, create a line in the dirt of her own.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Broly 8/15/2012, 6:57 am

OOC Notes: My power up was null as soon as I rested; as you can see I removed it from my "Stat Detriments + Boosts" in my previous post. We discussed this on AIM, so I assume no more need be said on that matter. Additionally, thank you for the offer, but my ki and strength are already higher than yours~. I would not like to put you at another disadvantage, though I do thank you for pointing it out, I would like to point out that I did not add it purposely.

Finally, don’t worry about citing sources! I trust you in this battle, and I would hope you trust me equally as much. While we will of course refer to refs for things like counters and block attempts (feel free to have my second action this turn checked out, by the way), I trust that you’re being honest with me about your actions and stats. We have no need to deceive each other! Good luck, and may the battle commence!

--

Kale’s feet remained planted firmly as his opponent dislodged the rocks around him, his eyes remaining fixed on the robotic creature; he knew that if he looked away, he would probably be in for a huge amount of pain. That was something he definitely did not need. He was already at a disadvantage for not being able to sense the thing’s energy, but now it was employing what appeared to be some form of psychokinesis. Did that mean that there truly was some kind of creature inside of it, commanding the suit?

While he would usually smile, something inside him told him that this was not the time for such a pleasant expression. His face was now featuring the emotion equivalent to his lifestyle; downcast and downright ferocious. He had not survived this long by allowing scare tactics to effect his action, nor had he managed to rise through the ranks to become a squad scout by being fooled at the tip of a hat. Whatever the hell it was doing, it would not get into his head with it’s crazy mind powers.

The rocks around him exploded into dust, sending small shards of shrapnel up against his flexweave battle armor, though doing little other than cosmetic damage. Smoke filled his field of vision, forcing him to bring a gloved hand to his mouth in order to keep his breathing steady. If he wasted his breath in this brown smokescreen, he’d get little other than a face full of metal paw-fist-claws. Whatever the fuck it was it did it’s striking with.

For the briefest moment, smoke hung over the battlefield, accompanied by the silence that accompanied an empty mind. He was not going to allow himself to be distracted by his thoughts at a time like this; he needed to figure out where the hell his enemy had gone. He couldn’t beat it if he couldn’t find it, right? Both eyes shut tightly as he felt out the environment around him, preparing for a hair-trigger reaction.

The attack came just as both eyes sealed shut. He could feel the strike coming, the hairs on his neck rising as it neared the back of his neck. What could he do to stop it? Very little, actually; what he could do though, that was still kind of helpful. He saw the coming strike in two ways. It was either going to be a knockout blow, or a test of the Saiyan Skull. Utilizing the entirety of his agility, he cocked his head back, jamming the blunt edged blade in the area between his head and his shoulder blades.

He could feel the dull ‘click’ of a mild concussion taking effect, accompanied by the all to familiar buzzing sound in his ears. It had forced him to take a dangerous blow or risk being knocked out. While that was a good strategy, Kale seemed to have something his opponent didn’t. He had been engaged in combat since shortly after his birth. He’d been sparring with other Saiyans at the age of three years old. He was like a machine in his own right, a machine based on instinct.

One did not survive in the school of hard knocks without learning to take a few concussions. While the creature withdrew it’s fist, Kale stumbled forward. His body turned as swiftly as possible, one hand on the back of his head and the other ready to defend himself once again. Would he be able to counter another strike with the current ache in the back of his skull? The odds were against him, but he knew he was stronger than whatever the hell this thing was. He could feel it in his gut. So far, he couldn’t really tell who was faster.

He hadn’t gotten the chance to utilize his agility yet. Eyes burning with intensity as he struggled to get a lock on the creature through the thick smog, Kale’s body went into it’s second gear. If he wanted to win this fight, he couldn’t afford to hold back. This thing had proven it could hang with him at the start of a scuffle, but if it couldn’t fight him when he was raring to go? Then that was a fatal flaw in whatever combat plan it had been formulating.

He caught sight of the assault at the last second. His hands rose up in defense, both crossing over his head in a firmly placed ‘X’ in an effort to lessen the damage. It’s axe handle collided with his forearms, forcing his already planted feet further into the dirt and cementing his place. The remaining ground around his feet was torn asunder by the force of the collision, though two slabs remained beneath both of his feet, quickly splitting.

He’d have jumped backward, had he the time. Unfortunately for him, he’d forgotten that his hell-spawned robot of an opponent had apparently evolved with a tail. His mouth fell open as the sweep took him off of his feet, both ankles sliding sideways in the air. This was not what he’d been anticipating; he’d honestly hoped to reply with a quick and point blank burst of energy in order to reply to his enemy’s attack. It was however, very unlikely that that would happen now.

His fingers grasped for the remaining ground as his body went fully horizontal. The creature was still on it’s feet, probably preparing to strike him into the dirt. However, all Kale could do was bring out that grin he’d been so hell-bent on preventing mere moments ago.Time slowed down for the warrior as his ki kicked in around him once more. He would not let this thing dictate the terms of the battle.

The cinnabar colored energy flaring around him, Kale’s knee rose up toward his hips. He was going for a flying knee, one of the most classic battle maneuvers. He knew that just because he was horizontal, that did not mean he would be allowed to break composure in the middle of a tight battle such as this. There would be no forgiveness for his lack of focus in combat. His knee struck toward the creature’s hip as his energy carried him in the same direction.

Worst case? He missed and managed to create some distance. Best case? He slammed his knee right into it’s goddamned battle armor. That would tell him how hard it was to crack; would it be a macadamia, the hardest to crack? Or would it be like a pistachio, pesky but not problematic? He would soon find out. Either way he figured it, this fight was not slated to last very long.

”Take this one, Robo-Cop!”

What? It was a solid insult. The thing spoke about as much as Robocop did.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Eilee 8/19/2012, 12:56 am

The first attack didn't go off perfectly without a hitch. The Saiyan caught her sword-like appendage between his shoulder and head. He snapped so quickly into that position that it strained his fleshy body. Her audio sensors detected a faint noise, apparently coming from the inside of his head, a byproduct of his overambitious block. It would have perhaps been wiser to take the blow.

Her knee, on the other hand, landed as perfectly as she had hoped and anticipated. Though despite it being a direct hit, her opponent seemed somewhat unfazed by it, and was still raring to go against her next attack. As she brought down her fused forearms, the Saiyan bent over backwards and raised his arms, forming an X with them. The attack slammed into the sides of his arms, but it was buffeted by the sudden block.

He seemed jumpy at that point and twitched, about ready to get out of the position she had cornered him into. But in all of his anticipation, he forgot to notice her tail sliding swiftly on the ground, and swept him easily off his feet. From there, she floated backward, putting a bit of distance between the two of them.

She scanned his body, looking over every inch of him. Her analysis concluded that he was still quite high on ki and a shock hormone in his body was preventing him from feeling the effects of his wounds. They were, for the most part, minor, save for the damage to his skull. She concluded that one of his internal organs must have slammed against it, but she wasn't overly familiar with Saiyan anatomy. Either way, he was quite the fighter to be standing after damage to any organ.

She wasn't doing too much better herself, but at least she didn't physically show it. Underneath of a crisp, chrome exterior was a being that felt battered and bruised, but she didn't have time to feel pain. Like him, she was caught up in the heat of the moment and didn't acknowledge her semi-physical form except when it was striking or being struck.

The time that had passed during this analysis was extremely short -- only around a few seconds. In that time, Saiyan was back on his feet again and his blood red aura covered his body. She could hear it give off a distinct, familiar hum -- the hum of war.

He lifted off the ground few inches, and though he was in little position to do so, he was poised to strike. Though he moved swiftly, it didn't take Eilee long to predict what he was about to do. He was likely to strike with his leg, as it was closest to her.

As she poised herself to block, her body seemed to melt into position. Her lower body and head stayed in the same place, but her torso shifted around 40 degrees to face the incoming strike. Though she made eye contact, she was equally ready for an attack that wasn't aimed in her direct line of sight. What she lacked in visual perception, she made up for with her ability to sense ki. As he came in for the knee, he shouted, "Take this one, Robo-Cop!", a reference she was bound to not understand.

As soon as his leg came forward, her arms shot out, catching him where the skin of his upper knee bent and touched the lower end. Her grip was initially loose, but she attempted to tighten it and bring him into position for a better strike. From there, she returned fire with a knee of her own, aiming for his stomach. It was not meant to be a full on blow, but rather, something to distract him. It would keep him busy while she readied her actual attack.

The attack in question came from blow. Eille's tail quickly shot upwards and tried to wrap around around his neck and tighten -- to break the bones surrounding his wind pipe and asphyxiate him. This was it, she thought. She was going in for the kill. Her mechanical side was blocking out her emotions -- and she let it. She needed that part of herself now more than ever, in a life or death situation.

The crystal in her tail glowed with his red ki as it was siphoned out of his body. The grip wouldn't last long, however. As soon as she felt he would probably recover from the shock of the sudden attack, she swung her tail halfway around her body and unfurled it, hopefully sending him off into the distance. But the attack was far from over with.

From her left hand, she fired off an orb attached to a beam of energy. The attack was not aimed at her opponent, but rather at the surrounding forest. The energy initially flew straight as an arrow, but soon changed directions, forming a sort of semicircle. The attack was made so that it would not come up from front or side, but rather meet his head as he flew forward. The velocity of both the Saiyan and the attack would hopefully serve to augment whatever explosion came after.

Note: You didn't actually role play a response to my knee. I decided to include it, but the full result is of course up to you.

After reviewing the counter attack, I am going to name it nullified. Kale does no damage, Eliee does no damage. I don't feel as though Eilee's grabbing of his knee, with the full momentum, matches the description of a counter attack--which is a speedy interruption. It's more along the lines of a Retaliation, which is a feat; one that she doesn't have access to.

Kale, it's simple, he marked his attack as a Heavy Smash. This was not a Heavy Smash, it was a Rush Attack, or maybe just a simple strike. A Heavy Smash is when you try to hit your opponent with an object, like a rock, or tree, or something.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Broly 8/21/2012, 9:46 pm

As Kale's knee embedded itself in the robot's grip, the Saiyan grimaced. He was already feeling a slight aching in his side, and there was no doubt that this thing was trying it's damnedest to work him into an early grave. That was not something he was gonna let happen; no matter how wily or cunning this thing thought it was, there was no way he'd let it take him down. It wasn't in his personality to roll over, nor was it something he found acceptable. He was simply not born that way, and he was glad for it.

Her grip seemed to tighten around his knee as he struggled to break free, his mind racing. Sweat dripped and dropped down his brow as his eyes cut to the side; something in his gut was crying wolf, warning him of a danger that he couldn't be altogether certain was incoming. His mouth dropped open as a snakelike tail came darting in from the periphery of his vision, his head clearly not turning quick enough to catch full sight of it. God damn it! Why had he gotten in so close?

Eyes alight with fire and determination, he forced his mouth shut so tightly that his teeth felt like they were about to shatter. Energy filled the air around his body at lightning speed as his training kicked in; he'd seen crazier shit than this. If he could just get a little bit of wiggle room, if he could just shake his knee free at all he'd be fine. There was no need to panic, there was no need to worry or fear; he was a Saiyan, the living embodiment of the warrior spirit. He was not to be defeated.

The energy that had built up around him suddenly took his place as the creature's tail slammed through an after image. Sweat smacked the ground where he had been mere milliseconds ago, his sweat now pouring feverishly from his brow. He hadn't expected such a close call in this fight, especially from something that didn't have any discernible energy signature. Nothing about it emitted any type of ki or heat or anything; it was completely baffling.

His right fist pounded his chest hard as his afterimage faded from view, the bright glow of energy now dissipating. For a moment, he considered leaning forward and dislodging the huge ass ball of saliva that was growing in the back of his throat, but he got the feeling that'd serve only to get him killed. Spittle flew freely from between his lips as he coughed, relieving some of the stress that seemed to build endlessly inside of his body. He wasn't growing tired yet, but the damage this thing had managed to inflict was starting to stack.

He'd gotten kneed, and then there was the slight rattling in his brain... If he hadn't been used to that type of punishment, he'd have likely been toast by now. Still, he was in relatively fine condition. He'd have placed himself at like eighty percent, if anything. His eyes rose as a wave of energy rushed toward him, before soaring off at an angle through the woods; what the fuck was this thing doing? Was it firing a warning shot at him? He didn't need that type of pity in the field of battle; did it think he was losing?

He emitted a low growl from between his lips as he sprang backwards into the air. In the woodland behind him, the Robot's blast was twisting and turning, homing in on his energy signature as it rose and climbed. He was pissed; he was infuriated that this thing was going to be taking pity on him. He had no way of knowing that the blast was rapidly approaching from the side. He couldn't sense it, he couldn't feel it. He was just doing what he'd always been taught to do: Fuck Shit Up.

His body spun on the spot, drawing in high winds as his ki rose. From the bottom of his feet, the air seemed to distort, heat-haze quickly changing the appearance of everything from his toes to his head. He was molding the environment to be his sword and his shield, drawing up the reserves of his power to strike back at his enemy. After all, if he didn't do any damage to this thing, then there was no way he was going to win this battle. He'd managed to get off a few good shots early on, but Robocop was quickly making a come back.

The wave approached from what had originally been his side as he spun through the air, the heat haze expanding to fill the area around him. His arms were extended and his eyes were tightly shut. Dirt and sticks were flying everywhere around him, joining the tornado of what appeared to be gaseous fire. He could hear the energy whipping and cracking at the remaining trees around him, forcing them to crumble and quake as the enemy's blast entered his domain.

For a moment, it stood up to his power admirably. However, Kale was far stronger than any machine he'd ever encountered. No way was he going to change the wording in that to: 'far stronger than most machines he'd ever encountered'. Straining his body, he continued his daredevil spin, slowly tearing the wave of energy to pieces as it struggled to reach his body through the ever expanding storm. He wouldn't have been shocked if the edges of his attack had already torn the suit to pieces, though that would've been a shame.

Suddenly, he pulled his arms inward. Almost immediately, the blast radius constricted and nullified the blast that had been racing toward him mere seconds before it could connect. Then, just as fast, the effect released. The haze of heat that had previously encircled his body retracted, dissipating into the air in a shower of sparks that rained down upon the ground lazily, while the environment settled. He had only used the attack a few times before in training, to knock his opponent around; he hadn't expected the effect to be so devastating in an open area.

The ground was torn up, viciously lacerated. All the trees in his immediate vicinity had been more or less shredded; the damage had been impressive. Hesitantly, as his breathing regulated, he adjusted the scouter on his ear. He'd honestly figured the thing would've flown off by now. Still, the PTO made good products. That was fact.

Kale's eyes then flew to last known location of his opponent.

”You still there, Robo-Cop?”

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Eilee 8/21/2012, 11:00 pm

The Saiyan rolled and squirmed in her grasp. He was like a snagged fish on a line. He had a hook in his mouth and he couldn't get it out, so he floundered around. It was time now to deliver the finishing blow. Her tail shot forward, but to her utter surprise, she struck air. The image of the Saiyan was still there and her attack faded through what looked like a holographic image. The rat had escaped.

If she had teeth, she would be gritting him right now. She had him -- she had him and she let him get away, and there was no way in hell she was letting it happen again. He was her responsibility now. She needed to finish the job.

It took but a moment's notice for her sensors to key into his location again. He had moved quickly and was several yards away now, but still almost directly in her line of sight. She would hunt him down like a rabbit if she had to. This was open season now.

The red crystal on her forearm lit up, covering her arm with an unearthly glow. It crackled softly like a bonfire, tame yet wild at the same time. The ball of energy extended from her hand and left it, following a predetermined path that she had set for it. It was to loop around and strike him in the back. But the Saiyan saw her fire off the blast of energy -- that was her number one mistake. He watched like a hawk as it half circled around him, ready to crash into him and explode.

It was then that he did something completely unexpected. He started to spin his body around, creating a wave of air. Her energy detectors were going off -- the air around him was, in fact, laced with ki. It cut through the surroundings like razor blades, growing larger and chopping down trees with gale force currents. Her attack was completely engulfed in the process, rendering it harmless as it was torn to shreds.

As the tornado of energy and momentum extended out to her, she could feel the wind coming off of it. That alone threatened to knock her over, and she was afraid of what the rest of the tornado could do. She gave a strong mental command, to set up a force field around herself. It would take up a fair chunk of her energy, but it would be better than taking the full brunt of it. A glassy orb of energy extended from the gem on her chest, giving her body a greenish tint beneath it. She could feel the vibration of energy slamming into the barrier, afraid it wouldn't be able to withstand the onslaught, but it stood fast. The dust in the wind covered her visual field and she was pushed back, creating a trail of dirt that stretched several meters. When at last the attack began to die down, her shields thinned and dissipated.

The Saiyan warrior came back into her visual field as she settled down, placing both feet on the ragged earth. He was both dazed and exhausted, trying to catch his breath. Sparks of leftover but harmless ki fell to the ground like glowing snowflakes. They were all that remained of Eilee's attack.

Her opponent took a moment to rest and recover, and she decided it would be best to use that opportunity as well. The battle was indeed tiring and she was beginning to run low on power. Though he showed visual signs of exhaustion, she did not change in the slightest. Her body language was far different from his and the only thing that changed was that her antennae were splayed out more.

"You still there, Robo-Cop?" He paused slightly mid-sentence to take a wheezy breath in.

"Activate reserve energy," was her answer. Her tone was completely different from his, uncaring and ethereal. She didn't sound human, but at the same time, she didn't quite sound mechanical either. It was as if her voice didn't come from her body, but rather echoed off the surroundings and the very inside of the listener's head.

A wave of energy washed over her, blanketing her body in an aura of white energy that came from her core. Just as suddenly as it had appeared, it faded, seeming to melt and become one with her being. Her stance shifted and her feet lifted off the ground again. The being's tail curled around and her arms and legs were repositioned. She was ready for an assault from any angle.

Her opening strike didn't require moving out of that stance -- just a passing thought. The ground beneath began to rumble again and the debris that had just fell floated once more. Her opponent had created a weak spot in the soil beneath him, thinning layers of dirt that hadn't seen the light of day in thousands of years. Ground-penetrating radar pulses were emitted from Eilee's body, confirming the positions of her pawns. She was ready for a blitzkrieg.

Suddenly, the beneath the Saiyan opened up, creating a sink hole. Sand from all sides rushed into it like a lion-ant's pit. Her weapon of choice was just beneath her opponent -- a large boulder of granite that had been forgotten by the ages. At her command, it rose up from from the river, heading straight for the Saiyan's underside.

Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee) Empty Re: Swirls of Red (Kale v. Eilee)

Post by Broly 8/21/2012, 11:38 pm

Robocop's words echoed in his head like some kind of telephone operator; cool and collected, calm and ready for more. That meant that whatever it was, it was still alive and kicking. That meant he was going to have to dish out more punishment and hammer down on the pain. He watched as it rose from the ground, some type of energy surrounding it as it prepared itself for a counter attack. He really should've seen it coming, after he had managed to expend that much energy. This thing was clearly a predator, first and foremost.

It was taking advantage of the fact that he actually needed to watch his fatigue levels, something he'd have normally commended it for. At least, he would've if he wasn't currently engaged in combat with it. There was no need to compliment your opponent in the middle of a life and death scuffle. If anything, that'd only bolster their strength and effort, raise their morale. All in all, it was a pretty shitty decision to commit to.

The ground beneath his feet began to rumble and quake once more, clearly being subjected to even more psychokinetic punishment. He had seen this type of thing before from Robocop. It wasn't going to catch him by surprise now; did it really expect a repeat attack to catch him off guard. Scoffing as he rose from the ground, Kale's head turned to watch as the ground sank and churned, turning itself into a death trap. Had he stayed in place, he'd have undoubtedly been drawn in.

As his body floated upward, his eyes caught sight of a rather large boulder. It was soaring out of place, shaking as it flew through the air toward him. Clearly, the Robot was going off of some model of momentum or something. He probably thought that if the rock slammed Kale in the face, he'd go down. Eyes narrowing as the boulder neared, the Saiyan prepared himself. Even though the strike wasn't lethal, it wasn't something to laugh at either.

Time seemed to slow down as he focused all his attention on the rock, releasing his flight. He was now in free fall, his body spinning and turning as he neared the chunk of whatever material that Robocop had slung in his direction. It was probably something from a nearby riverbed or cave wall; otherwise he had no idea where the dude would have grabbed it. It would have to be pretty sturdy too, otherwise it'd just shatter against his body.

The rock entered his guard at a speed that most men would've marveled at. Fortunately, Kale was a Saiyan; a Saiyan who was used to fighting in high speed aerial chases. His body slid to the side of the rock, arms stretching out as he grabbed the thing in mid descent. He already knew what he was going to do with this thing. Grinning like a man mad as he fell through the skies, the youth quickly mounted his bull.

”Look out below!”, he called as he straddled the quickly falling chunk of whatever the hell it was his enemy had thrown his way. It was almost like Robocop wanted him to win! Who was stupid enough to give their opponent a perfectly lethal weapon?

He pulled the rock into the air in front of him as he descended toward Robocop, quickly forcing his legs against it as he struggled to get a solid position. For what felt like an eternity, he fought against nature to position both feet against the base of the boulder, adding his own momentum to the speed that had already been achieved in the form of terminal velocity. His arms stretched out as the air tore and whipped at his face, his scouter shaking feebly on his ear.

As he neared the robot, he kept an eye on the environment, which seemed to blur by as he fell through the air; if it escaped him, he would be able to track it with his eyes, which were used to following opponents who moved at speeds reminiscent of lightning. One did not survive long in the field of scouting by losing track of the enemy.
