Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Ava 3/28/2012, 5:36 pm

Ava was having a good day. She hadn’t been threatened in a while, she was living out in the country away from the hussle and bustle of West City and she had saved up enough money from her tournaments to buy a space ship.

She was so excited; she couldn’t wait to see it any longer. She finished her breakfast and rushed outside, capsule in hand. She pressed the capsule button and threw the capsule a good ten meters away from her and she stepped back.

She smiled widely as the ship exploding into life in front of her. It was so shiny and white and so… shiny.

She giggled like a happy little school girl as she jumped up and down and enjoyed having the freedom to leave the planet if she wanted to.

She ran back inside and got a bucket and filled it with some water and soap. She ran back out and flew up to the top of her ship and dumped the water onto the ship with a smile on her face.

She began to scrub it down, humming some unknown little chime to herself. She was half way through when she sensed a huge power surging towards earth. She looked up and saw that something was entering the Earth’s atmosphere at a neck snapping speed. She stood up and looked carefully.

“That looks like…” she gasped.

The ship was shaped like a Saiyan Battle Pod, one similar to her Saiyan Child Safety pod.

She watched as the ship lit up, burning a furious red, and shot across the sky, heading towards the mountains.

“If it’s another Saiyan, I need to go help them.” she said, dropping the rag and shooting off after the ship.

The pod hit the ground with a sharp crash, forcing the Saiyan's neck to snap back despite the padded seat behind him. The pod itself was already barely large enough, but such a powerful jolt had rocked the warrior's body. He could feel his muscles screaming from the atmospheric jaunt toward the Earth's surface, an unexpected by product of his traveling speed. Perhaps he should have adjusted the trajectory to have landed in an Ocean? Drowning would be worse than a short jolt to the body, though. He wouldn't want to go out that way.

After all, blasting out of a space pod was difficult enough as it was. The material could easily survive a kinetic drop from orbit, and most blasts. Extending a hand to nurse his neck as his pod's door fell open, the Saiyan took a second to gather himself before stepping out of the diminutive spacecraft. He would have preferred his father's ship, but complications had prevented them from meeting. Complications involving fear and possible patricide. The only thing that made this landing seem to be worth it in the slightest, was the thought of the destruction he would wreak upon this place.

This god-forsaken rock in the middle of Sol. Every piece of it seemed weak. The harmless sunlight that was streaming in from the sky, the mild breeze that seemed equally harmless. Native birds were scattering away from the crash area, soaring high above his pod's impact crater in an attempt to flee from his arrival. They were the smart ones. He could only imagine being at their level. Fearful for their very lives, forever in danger of a superior predator devouring them. For Broly, this would be his first experience with someone more mighty than he.

Not that he knew this was coming of course. Had he known, he wouldn't have been moving so casually. His relaxed stride would have quickly transformed into pulse-pounding flight to meet his target in the fiery tides of battle. Unfortunately, his ability to sense energy was a little worse than spot-on terrible. With his destructive power, he rarely found need to utilize it.

The warrior removed the false crown from his head, allowing his black hair to fall around his ears and face, framing him in a manner that would seem attractive if not terrifying. It made him look bear-like, excluding the cold swagger he appeared to carry in every step on his climb out of the crater. The uphill trek was the only thing warming his muscles up to the low gravity, permitting him the chance to acquire a taste for the conditions of this planet.

If he hadn't been here to wreck the place, it would have been beautiful. He could see the wave of green and golden grass swaying back and forth on the breeze, hiding the smaller creatures that made their living in the brush. Now standing at a short distance from his landing zone, he compared the decimated brush inside of his impact zone to the area outside of it. Apparently, he had already completed .00001% of his job. How delightful!

A wild smirk spread across the Saiyan's face as he glanced at his pod's handiwork. Soon enough, the rest of planet Earth would look like that. His expression was wiped clean however, as he felt a pair of eyes drilling into his well defined back. Someone was obviously noticing his arrival. He spun in a quick sweeping motion, stepping to the lip of the crater in a near protective motion. However, anyone experienced in battle would know he was only entering his defensive posture in case of danger.

While not very formal, no one could mistake the curling of his fingertips for a playful gesture.

"So, what insect has come to play?"

Ava was standing on a nearby cliff, looking down at the landing area where the ship had landed.

She noted as a young man stepped out and looked around. He walked up onto the rim of the impact zone and looked at the devastation he had caused. It was nothing special.

Every ship that landed out in the wilderness caused that much damage, but them man, how ever, was huge and hulking as he looked around. He was a Saiyan for sure, judging by his tail. His power level was low enough and she guessed that she could fight him off if need be.

She stood up and flew down to him, landing on the other side of the crater, to put some distance between them, looking over at him as he curled his hands into fists. He seemed to be very angry for some reason. But she smiled sweetly at him anyway.

“Hi, I’m Ava. Welcome to Earth.”

He said nothing to her in return and just stared angrily at her, so she began to walk around the rim of the impact zone towards him.

“You’re a Saiyan right…” she smiled widely.
“Me too.” She said, stopping in front of him.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

“Hi, I’m Ava. Welcome to Earth.”

The statement forced the man to raise an eyebrow in curiosity. The quirked brow remained as he looked the woman up and down, trying to get a gauge on her relative strength. Although she looked small enough, he could tell she housed some kind of hidden power. Something that he doubted he'd be able to overwhelm as easily as he usually managed. That made it interesting, exciting even. He could feel his blood boil at the mere thought of someone more powerful than himself, all of his muscles tensing up in response to her heavy aura. He would have been pleased enough to encounter a reasonable power level upon arrival, but to encounter one of the most powerful he'd ever felt?

That was what made it so exhilarating. The Saiyan's leg muscles pulsed, as he resisted the urge to spring forward and attack straight away. He wanted to tear this woman to pieces before she got the chance to fight back, but something within him held him rooted to the spot. Was it the suspense? Perhaps. He knew her next statement would be something introductory. He'd been taught manners enough by his father to know it was polite to know the name of those he was about to destroy (or that he thought he could destroy). At the mention of the word Saiyan, his eyebrow descended.

Her cheerful demeanor was throwing him off. What Saiyan Warrior could be so damn happy with themselves? It was near sickening. He'd never met someone this pleased in his presence; was she unused to seeing another Saiyan? He couldn't say he was very surprised. They were scattered around the galaxy with reckless abandon. It wasn't common to encounter one, especially on a place such as Earth.

So, that explained her strength. Why was the Earth still in tact, though? Wasn't a Saiyan sent here to destroy this place years ago? At first, he'd assumed that the poor fool had failed. However, this woman's strength must have dwarfed almost anyone else's on the planet. She couldn't have been killed by the weak Earthlings if she had wanted to be. Narrowing his eyes as he prepared his response, the hot blooded one let his suppressed rage bubble out in his tone. Something about this woman pissed him off, already. She put off an air of rebellion.

"You're no Saiyan. If you were, you'd be the only one on this rock.", and from his own statement, he had discerned the source of his rage. It was the inborn need for destruction within him, beckoning him to destroy all targets. It was all he could do to breathe calmly now, as the need for a good struggle began to over take him. His fingers twitched at his waist, forcing small tendrils of wind to raise from the ground and his pants to billow outward as the new breeze moved.

His quirked brow returned to it's scowling position, as a result of a sudden decline of interest. He would find out all he needed to know in the coming moments, despite his growing impatience.

"So, I ask. Who are you, woman? Insect, or other?". While not exactly the most polite statement, it got his point across. The woman would be able to respond to him one more time, before he attacked. If she was paying attention, she'd catch the signs in an instant. He was tensed all over, his muscles stretching and returning back to their relaxed positions with every heart beat. Broly was clearly excited at the prospect of any act of violence against this woman, Saiyan or not. He didn't even care if he managed to destroy her. He was just aching for the feel of a good fight, a way to stretch his muscles that could satisfy his urges.

She stepped back as he seemed to be on the point of powering up and losing control.

“Whoa there big boy, just calm down okay…” she told him and he seemed to calm slightly, but his heart was racing none the less.

Something was very wrong with this Saiyan man. He was powerful, but he lacked restraint and the timing to make a perfect strike. He was ready to attack her right now, before she even knew his name. She would have to be on guard.

"So, I ask. Who are you, woman? Insect, or other?” he asked her.

“I’m not an insect, I’m a Saiyan, look.” She said showing him her brown tail that was hidden under her clothes.

“And as for why I’m not alone here. This is my home and I like it here. The earthlings are…nice…” she smiled.

She felt his heart racing again but he seemed to have more control over himself now, even thought his body was tensed and hard, ready for a fight. He would be in for a surprise if he decided to attack her or her home town.

“Look, I’ve only ever met two other Saiyans, so I’m not so good at this whole Saiyan greeting thing. But I’m assuming you start by telling me your name.” she asked him, try to sense his ki, but he was clearly suppressing it.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/28/2012, 7:17 pm

The wind carried his hair off of his shoulders for a brief second, letting it flow in the breeze he was creating. It was obvious that she had more control over her powers than he did, but all that managed to do was send a hot flash of anger throughout his body. As a result, he struggled to show extra restraint when she told him to calm down, if only to spite her superior level of control. He could control himself to a point, if he was properly motivated, and not pissed off beyond all belief. It did seem however, that a lot of things pissed him off. Babies. Carrot-named Saiyans. That kind of thing.

His inky black eyes turned toward her tail, as she showed it to him. So, she was a Saiyan after all. He would have to test that before long, with the traditional method of attempting to smash her face off of the ground. He could even cover her body in the crater behind him, should he 'over do' it. Something like a grin spread across his features, manipulating his face to appear as malevolent as ever. Broly, no matter who you asked, couldn't exactly pull off the nice guy look. Not unless sedated or unconscious. Even then, one often felt as though he'd stir to choke them at any second.

Energy came rolling off of his shoulders in lazy arcs, slowly rising into the air before dissipating. She wasn't used to greeting Saiyans, eh? What a shame that this would be her first formal greeting with one of her own kind. He doubted that the other Saiyans who were resident here, who were apparently staying for the 'kind earthlings', would have known how to greet one another. In truth, she wasn't too far off. The names came soon, but not exactly first. Narrowing his energy as he pulled in a deep breath, Broly let his energy erupt around him in a spherical fire. It expanded and crackled as it spread along the ground, before fading back into the Saiyan's body with an audible crack.

His blood lust was now rising to a boiling point. It was time to get things under way. They could talk if she survived this, but not now. Now was not the time for words, but actions. He would make sure she understood this with the final levels of his restraint, issuing what could have been interpreted as a warning as he prepared his strike.

"Saiyans greet each other through battle... We'll speak afterward, if you wish. Heheh."

His deep and dark laugh rumbled free of his chest, along with a sensation that would have sent children scurrying. He knew that this woman was far braver, and far more powerful than any child though. She wouldn't go screaming and running from a little display of power. Suddenly, his body tensed up again. His aura exploded out around him, before he extended his lengthy arm in a lightning like lunge toward the female's neck. While he was hoping to grasp hold of it, any reaction would have been more than useful in illustrating her abilities.

That was the true purpose behind this strike. To gauge this woman's prowess.

She saw that he was losing control again as he powered up several times before speaking to her.

"Saiyans greet each other through battle... We'll speak afterward, if you wish.” He laughed evilly as he moved into his staring position.

It was now clear, he was here to fight. Well he would get what he wanted soon enough. Before she could move into hers, he reached out for her neck. She smiled slightly and flitted away.

She watched him from a distance as he looked at his empty hand. She waited a few seconds before speaking.

“Looking for me?” she smiled as he turned to look at her.

“You may be big, but man, you’re slow.” She said, beginning to hover.

She flew towards him, her arms crossed over her chest, and her tail wrapped around her waist.

“You have several problems I’ve noticed, Saiyan.” She said, slowly flying around him.

“You lack restraint and therefore, clear and rational thinking. And this, makes you dangerous and reckless.” She said to him, looking him in his black eyes.

“You’re big and muscled and toned, but that slows you down. You’ve comprised speed for power. Never, ever do that. Power is good, but it’s no good if a sparrow can out fly you. You need to find a way to slim down.” She smiled at him.

“You’ve also not learned how to sense ki. Want to know how I know this?” she smiled at him, her hands behind her back.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/28/2012, 8:02 pm

Pulling his hand back in with a disappointed grunt, he flexed his fingers a few times. That attempt had been unsuccessful. That was a pity. He could have used the relief of a brief strangling, no matter how disappointing it would have been. It looked as though he'd have to wait to see what it felt like to maim on Earth, after all. Pulling in his body back to it's regular stance, Broly prepared for a counter attack that was apparently not forthcoming. Was she stupid? Any regular Saiyan would have seized that opportunity at a moment's notice. Then again, it would appear that living on Earth had softened her more than he'd initially assumed.

That was her problem, then. It was almost enough to make him feel pity, but she'd done it to herself. Had she just slaughtered the Earthlings like she was likely meant to, she would have likely retaliated and seized her chance at victory. He would have to remember not to leave a gap that wide in his defenses again, otherwise this would be over swiftly.

He watched her tail wrap around her waist as his own danced around behind him. While he wasn't very conscious of it, but he knew that it was there, sure enough. His eyes swiftly flickered upward to meet her gaze, staring intently back with no signs of an intent to forfeit. Just because he couldn't catch her yet, didn't mean he couldn't win. Speed wasn't everything, after all. Predators weren't always feared by other species for their speed, but their prowess at hunting. Broly didn't need to be faster or more controlled. He was a natural predator.

That was why her statement on his speed failed to effect him. However, he was confused by the follow up. What exactly was a sparrow? And how was he to take that comment? He couldn't tell whether she was complimenting him, or trying to tear him down with her words. Big; Muscled and Toned, those were all compliments. Then she called him slow? It made his temper flare up once more as a ball of energy erupted into existence around his right hand. He would try another tactic. He would try utilizing his energy.

However, he was genuinely intrigued by her knowledge. How could she tell? Was it something in the way he attacked, or perhaps the fact that he attacked in itself? He could feel her power well enough, but that didn't make him any more aware of anything. It just made his skin tingle, his rage rise, and the excitement increase. Nothing could have been more refreshing, and yet nothing could have been more frustrating, than to fight someone stronger than himself. He averted his gaze from her eyes for a second, shifting it toward her smile. Was there a hint of smugness there? Or was it innocence?

He couldn't tell the difference. Relaxing his eyes as he glanced back up to her face in general, the Legendary Super Saiyan swept his hand through the air over his chest, releasing a barrage of energy blasts from the arc he'd woven in the air. It wouldn't be very lethal, but hopefully it'd be good enough to land a hit on her. This woman was fast, but he didn't think she could evade a few dozen blasts coming at once.

"Go ahead, woman. Tell me!", he snarled as the blasts went screeching toward their target, the female Saiyan who stood before him.

She smiled and threw her arms up in front of her face as the blasts hit her. Smoke and dust filled the air as they hit her and exploded. Eventually, she felt the attacks stopped. As the smoke cleared, she lowered her arms and looked angrily at the surprised Saiyan in front of her, her long black hair waving in the breeze.

Her arms were scratched up and bleeding but she barely flinched as her blood dripped down her arms. This was nothing compared to the Bloodlust side effects she had experienced a few months ago. Her suit was pretty banged up through, with chunks missing out of it from his assault, showing her creamy skin. She would have to path it up again.

“If you could sense just how powerful I really am, you would run back to your ship and get the hell away from here.” she said, floating towards him.

“Or submit to me.” she added stopping just in front of him, her arms folded over her chest, staring into his black eyes. She had to fly to get up to his eye level, he was so tall.

“You have Bloodlust… don’t you?” she asked him.

“Stop fighting me and let me teach you what I know. I can help you with your Bloodlust.” She smiled, but just as quickly as that smile appeared, it faded.

She thrust her hand out quickly towards his neck, grabbing it tightly.

“Submit” She asked him.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/29/2012, 10:17 am

Her words brought a new flash of rage from within. Submit? Broly had never given in before. The word Forfeit wasn’t a part of his vocabulary, in fact, he’d never even heard another speak the words before. He watched with furious eyes as she rose to meet him, speaking of his bloodthirsty nature as if she had experienced something similar to it. There was nothing like his rage, nothing like his blinding power. Her words served only to bother and mock him, as though she were purposely insulting him. On his surface, it appeared that she was only making him more resolute in his denial. In his core? He was suddenly conflicted like he’d never been before.

She could teach him to control his lust for blood? His desire to destroy? She could direct him in the way he needed to go, as none had before. With her power, he didn’t put the possibility too far to the side. She had survived his barrage of energy blasts without much difficulty, survived the barrage that had been used to destroy most others. If she hadn’t gained this power through acquisition of control...Where had she gained it? Certainly the Earth hadn’t miraculously granted her the ability to direct her rage and strength. As he pondered on the choice, he watched as her smile faded.

”Submit to you? Hardly. You do not know true blood lust. If you had, this planet would have been space dust long ago.”

By the time the words left his lips, it was too late for him to react. Broly’s eyes widened as he attempted to step back, but the smaller woman was far too agile for his limited speed. Her hand was in a vice grip around his neck, applying pressure to keep him still and choke him at the same time. Weak, pathetic woman! Raising both hands to her wrist, he tried his damnedest to remove her hand from atop his vocal cords. Despite his body, which was reasonably calm despite the fact that his biceps were now shaking from the effort of trying to remove her hand from his windpipe, his eyes betrayed him. They were wide with a mixture of feelings; not quite fear, but surprise. Shock at her strength and ability.

He wasn’t used to fighting someone stronger physically, faster and more patient than he was. Perhaps the latter two he could handle, but with her raw power, he was beginning to understand that he wouldn’t be able to simply overpower her as he had the others. Closing both eyes as she continued to hold his neck in her firm grip, Broly spoke through the choke hold, but not without obvious effort. If she had wanted to kill him, she had gotten the chance dozens of times already, yet she had failed to take them.

”What do...Do you know? What... do you know of controlling... Pure rage?!”

It sounded almost like he was disgusted with her, but it wasn’t just her or her power. It was his own inability to protect himself. Mere seconds after landing upon Planet Earth, he’d already been placed in such an embarrassing position by a female who barely reached his chin. If she wasn’t flying, he doubted she’d be able to choke him so well. Both eyes flung open, suddenly staring back into hers with a new determination. He wouldn’t submit, but he would probe as much as possible. Even if it cost him his life, he would not say he quit.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

“What do...Do you know? What... do you know of controlling... Pure rage?” he wheezed, his eyes shooting open suddenly. He wasn’t giving up.

She smiled and let go of his neck suddenly. She had the chance to kill him, but she sensed great potential in him, he was just a little lost right now. She watched as he took his chance to step back, away from her.

“I’m a Saiyan. I’ve learned that we are born with anger in our veins, not blood.” She said, floating back to the ground.

“And why I haven’t killed the entire planet yet? Turned it into space dust?” she said to him.

She looked around at the planet her had come to call home. It was very different from Namek, but at lest here, she could blend in, if she hid her tail. And she had a chance of finding love here, unlike Namek.

“I grew up on Namek. And have not lived a single day of my life in the traditional Saiyan way. I have the power and instincts, but little else. I am an Earthling, in my heart.” She said, touching her heart.

He just stared at her, so she needed to elaborate a little more.

“Like you, a few weeks ago I affected by Bloodlust. My eyes even went red.” She told him, crossing her arms over her chest and looking up at him.

“I know how terrible it is, to have the impression that you have done this to yourself, but that fact is, we can’t control it. Once we taste blood and power, we’ll always want more.” she sighed.

“With my Namekian morals and understanding of control swept aside by the Bloodlust, I began to rupture my organs apart. And I died.” She told him before she looked down at the ground and shook her head. Ashamed.

“The Bloodlust killed me.” she added.

“I went to Hell for many killing humans and made a huge mistake while I was there…” she said, thinking back.

“But thanks to a Martial arts Master, I was brought back.” she explained.

“I’m sure that I must be the only Saiyan who has this measure of control, but I attribute it to my upbringing. But I know it’s possible for other Saiyans.” She said to him.

“And besides, I won’t go back to Hell, even if I have to die twice. I can’t.” she whispered.

“You talk about pure rage?” she chuckled.

“I’ve taste it and loved it. I let it consume me. And now I know how to control it.” she told him.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/29/2012, 2:35 pm

He failed to notice that she'd released him. Something about this woman was wrong; she had released an opponent who she had undoubtedly bested? What kind of morality did she possess? He could feel his blood slowly returning to normal, his body relaxing from the lack of stress imposed upon him. It still disarmed him that she knew so much about the affliction best known as blood lust. While not a Legendary Saiyan, at least to his knowledge, she was still afflicted? What a blessing for her; a blessing and a curse. What if she was right? What if it forced his organs to break down?

Was that the effect of superior power? He pondered on her words, letting them rumble around in his head as he slowly rose to his feet. Broly no longer felt the urge to attack, but he didn't want to stay still. He wanted to move, to destroy, to set fire to this entire area with just his might. Brushing himself off as he rose to full height, the Saiyan gave the woman a quick glance over, scanning her for any extended signs of damage caused by his attack. If he had been hoping to find a wound somewhere, he was sorely mistaken.

“I know how terrible it is, to have the impression that you have done this to yourself, but that fact is, we can’t control it. Once we taste blood and power, we’ll always want more.”

That was true. It was at some times, all he could think about. The need for the power, the longing to heed the call of danger and chaos. Like all Saiyans, he loved battle. It was all he had to occupy his time, and all that brought him satisfaction when he required it. As long as he had a foe to best, or a life to destroy, he felt secure himself. What was it about destruction that brought such a being stability? Or was it more of an instability? While he lost control of himself, he couldn't tell. He became a different person entirely, overcome by his own strength, and primal urges. He doubted she would be able to bring him a true level of control; Paragus had tried with his technology, and he had failed.

As her voice rose into a chuckle, Broly maintained his poker face. If she could teach him to truly control his abilities, he would be nigh unstoppable. He was already a juggernaut when in his full power state; a state he wished he currently had the ability to access. Unfortunately, he didn't have anything quite like that state of pure destruction, just a weak form that he was stuck in for what had seemed like an eternity. Ever since he left Paragus, he had been unable to access it through his own means. Unless he was completely enraged, unshakably furious, he was unable to utilize any of his true power.

It was what left him a shade of his former self, an apparition of his power.

"What do you mean, tasted it? As if you'd merely sampled your strength.", it was enough to bring a throaty chuckle from his throat.

"You don't sample something like that. You devour it, evelop it and make it part of you. How would you be rid of it?", and of that he was genuinely curious. How would she rid herself of the desire to kill? Was it truly a result of her upbringing, or a herculean display of personal will power?

She looked at him as he rose into the air, threateningly.

"What do you mean, tasted it? As if you'd merely sampled your strength.” He said to her, chuckling a little.

He was right. She had opened a box that couldn’t be closed now. a Pandora’s box of power and uncontrollability. But how to convey that message without pushing him over the edge again. He was just starting to calm down.

"You don't sample something like that. You devour it, envelop it and make it part of you. How would you be rid of it?” he asked her.

“I didn’t.” she smiled at him.
She saw the shocked look on his face.

“Yeah, I still technically have Bloodlust.” She said, flying up to meet his gaze.

“Once you have it, it can’t be cured… only controlled and managed.” She told him.

“Meditation helped a little…” she shrugged, looking out over the plains behind him.

“But dieing… that did it for me.” she smiled at him.

“The… mistake… I made in other world will haunt me till my death. And if I don’t redeem myself, I’ll go back to Hell and then…” she stopped.

She was even to ashamed to tell him, someone she had never met before.

“Well, let’s just say, it won’t be a good thing, having to go back there.” She added.

“So I made a choice, to be good.” She said.

“No one can do it for you. You need to decide, control the bloodlust, or let it control you.” She poked him lightly on the shoulder.

“So you can decide to attack me again, I know you want to know the extent of my power. The good parts of Bloodlust I managed to retain, the unbridled power, or…” she smiled at him sweetly, flashing her white teeth at him in an honest smile.

“You can tell me your name, and I can help you.” She added.

“Your choice.” She added.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/29/2012, 4:55 pm

Broly released a tentative breath, shifting his view to the sky above them. It was obvious that this decision wasn't an easy one to make for him. Was he to be annihilated, or assimilated? With the latter choice, he could at least return to his glory. But that required sacrifice; not of his true nature, no, he'd never relinquish his destructive nature. He would merely need to bend his knee, submit to the will of another. Was that so hard...? The short answer was a short, curt, yes. He didn't enjoy following the orders of others. That was why he'd never seen eye to eye with his controlling father.

Despite the warm breeze, he felt cold all of the sudden. As if a sudden chill were sweeping over him. Was that calm? Or was that the feeling of humility? Either way, he didn't like it. For a moment, he snarled and closed his eyes, pondering his choices. She was right, it was his choice to make. She couldn't really decide for him, as she likely knew. Saiyans weren't often the type to bend unwillingly. He shook his head once, swiftly, as if regretting his choice that he would undoubtedly come to. She was, after all, offering him power. He wasn't one to turn down power.

He turned himself back to face her one more time, allowing his feet to meet the ground hesitantly. If that was the path he needed to walk, then that was the path he would walk. Taking a breath to gather himself before finally releasing the words he had long considered forbidden, the words of submission. If he could not fight this power, then he would allow it to enhance his own. He would use it for all it was worth, and if it let him? He would over take it. Such was his nature, as a Saiyan.

"Broly. Call me Broly."

The name felt strange. He wasn't used to letting out the two syllables. He let the words be swept away by the wind, eyeing the woman with a new level of curiosity. He would see how this played out, if she desired to teach him so. Of course, he would have to have a basic knowledge of her persons, first. He had relinquished a fact about himself, so why not ask for some ground in return? He would not give an inch so that she could take a mile, after all.

"Where do we go now?"

That was his final question. He needed to know no more; he could find out her name later, or if she'd told him somewhere within his rage, ask about it another time. This woman didn't seem as though she'd leave him be any time soon, after all... and so he would do what she wanted, until he could do what he wanted. But he wasn't about to soften his defenses any time soon. Lowering your guard around a Saiyan (especially a Saiyan Woman), was never safe.

She smiled at him.

"Broly. Call me Broly. Where do we go now?" He asked to her.

She smiled. She was getting somewhere; at least she knew his name now.

“Broly. Okay Broly, well, my house is just over this cliff and off to the west, about ten kilometres. How about lunch, you must be hungry. Please follow me. After lunch, we can do some meditating; see if that helps you at all.” She said shooting off.

He took off after her and in a few minutes they landed outside the town. She looked back as he landed and looked at the town.

“Lilly Town. It’s quiet and secluded. Just the way I like living.” She said, walking to her house.

“Please, come in.” she gestured to the door.

He went in, bending down at the low door and she walked in after him.

“I need to do some chore around town and finish washing my ship later. If you would like to help me, it would be greatly appreciated.” She smiled at him.

“I find working takes my mind off the whole, I wanna rip someone’s throat out thing.” She joked.

“Sorry for the mess, I wasn’t expecting anyone. I’ve been kinda alone out here for a while.” She said, picking up some clothes off the floor.

“Ready for some food?” she smiled, throwing them into another room.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/29/2012, 6:49 pm

As they lifted off into the air, he had to wonder. Where would this Saiyan woman live? Was it a homely hovel just outside of the city? Or a quiet little villa on the outskirts of society? He preferred the solitude by now, so anything out of the way would have sufficed. Other people usually ended up just getting in the way and bothering him, causing him unnecessary discomfort. He wasn't disappointed as they neared her home, indeed separated from the large cities Earth was home to. Lilly Town was far different than the urban centers he'd heard of on his Pod's info graphics. By the time of his arrival, he had nearly expected the place to be covered in sprawling urban Metropolises, like that of it's popular culture.

Stepping inside, he examined the woman's home with the scrutiny of a parent. He had never been in a very messy environment, at the very least a messy environment he hadn't completely destroyed before hand. It was a new feeling for him to experience a place so personal and homey; this place was far different than the ship he'd grown up on with his father. There, he'd been limited to a specific area, and forced to stay there until unleashed. Paragus hadn't trusted him to wander around unrestrained, which only added to the sensation of new found freedom. He said nothing at her offer to work, merely nodding silently. He would do whatever it took to gain control over his power. Small tasks were already small, and with his aid they would become trivial enough to take mere moments.

He watched as she cleaned up briefly, removing clothing from the floor and taking it away. He wondered if humans changed their habits when around others? That would explain the change in this Saiyan's behavior. He himself wouldn't have gotten it messy in the first place. But with this Saiyan Woman's adaptations to Earth's customs, it was possible that they were a messy people by nature. The Saiyans were a stark contrast, with Spartan living quarters and rooms. These people seemed to adorn their homes with all kinds of things. Fences, ornate door hangings, photographs. He couldn't remember a single photograph in his space-bound dwelling, nor a piece of art or special furniture. The Saiyans weren't one to put culture on a pedestal, especially foreign cultures.

Broly was however, forced to repress a smile at the thought of food, a constant ingredient in any Saiyan's life. They needed it to keep up their metabolism and strength. The taste was just an extremely pleasant bonus to the nutritional value it offered. He watched her clothes' flight path, resisting the urge to rise at the sound of a sudden thump. That must have been a washing machine of some sort. Turning his attention back to more important matters, he quizzed her on her choices of cuisine.

"What do you have to eat, Earth-Saiyan?", an inquiry released with far less distaste than he had previously put on for display.

“We have all sorts of things. Meat, or protein, as you know it, probably. Bread and pasta, starches and carbohydrates, very good for energy. Vegetables, they’re just something we use to keep our diets balanced, lot of nutrients.” She explained, walking over the fridge and opening it.

“We also have some strange things to drink, but water is probably the healthiest.” She said, taking down two glass and filling it with water.

“I’ll just make us some sandwiches and then we can get to work.” She said, getting everything ready.

She whipped up some lunch and put it on plates. She put it down on the table and gestured for him to sit, which he did. She took her sandwich and bit into it. He did the same and followed her lead.

When they were done, she got up and asked him to follow. She went out into the little garden surrounding her home.

“Sit, crossed legged, like this.” She said, sitting down on the lush grass and tapping in front of her.

“Then put your hands on your knees, palms up, like this.” She showed him the correct posture for meditation.
He sat down opposite her and did what she did.

“Now, close your eyes and listen to the silence around you.” She said, closing her own eyes.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/29/2012, 7:51 pm

Broly's body adjusted to the position used for meditation very slowly. He had never sat in this manner before, and was thus unaccustomed to it's restrictive nature. Whenever Broly sat on the floor, he'd usually just let himself rest and lean back, utilizing the brief break as a chance to rest his head. Breaks, in his world, did not come all that often. Whenever he was at rest, he was usually in bed, or simply staring up at the ceiling, perhaps out at the stars outside. It was a relaxing time; the stars never angered him. They merely glittered and gleamed off in the oh so distant distance, just out of his reach for the time being. He had, at one point, wished to visit them all one day.

But that dream was no longer a part of him. All that he had left was himself, and that was all he really needed. His father had only served to hinder him, act as the limiter for his strength, and to ultimately pause his advance in strength. Eyes fixed upon the blue skies above, Broly permitted them to rest, both lids drooping down slowly to coat the world in blackness. He was used enough to the sound of silence, but this was different. There was usually an echo to the silence found in desolation; a shattered remnant of the lives recently lost. Here there was a semblance of livelihood, as though something else were with him in the world. It made him uneasy, different. It was not within his comfort zone.

Still, he didn't complain. It was unpleasant, to be sitting here in dead silence after he had just spent the past several dozen minutes being spoken to by the Saiyan woman who was now sitting next to him, also meditating. He briefly pondered on her thoughts; was she considering the humans she knew? Or were they not supposed to be thinking at all? The thought of not thinking seemed nearly impossible. Every thought rebounded in his head, no matter how hard he tried to repress it. It simply wasn't natural for him to stop thinking unless his mind was wiped blank by a slate of fury. Furrowing his brow as he tried to concentrate on the sounds of nature around him, he only managed to block it out.

"How do you get the patience for this?!", he peeked through his right eye, turning his gaze toward the woman. She said she did this to control herself? He couldn't see how. Thinking about things was only starting to make it worse. He couldn't understand what would make someone do this day in and day out for their entire lives; it was boring and trivial, infuriating and bothersome. Then again, he found that most activities to be the above and worse, required only minimal levels of effort. It clearly was not very difficult to piss the Legendary Super Saiyan off; especially when he was more or less permitted to do whatever it was he wanted. Here, he wasn't exactly in such a position-- but he was in possession of just enough leeway to feel annoyance at such trivial activities such as Meditation.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

"How do you get the patience for this?” he asked her.

He seemed to be a very impatient man. It had barely been 20 seconds since he closed his eyes. She smiled, her eyes closed to all that was happening around her.

The breeze was blowing gently onto their cheeks and whipping their loose hair up, carrying it gently on the Earth’s invisible breath. Today was the perfect day for mediating.

“It took some practice. I was hard for me too at first.” She whispered to him as he closed his eye again.

“You’ll get it eventually. It just takes time.” she said, keeping her voice down to hypnotic subdued drum of inspiration and teachings she had learned from Master Roshi, Master Korin, and Master Kami.

“Try and clear your mind. Just be aware of what is around you here and now. Forget the past and all the wrong doings, forget your plans for the future, just be here, with me, in this moment.” She whispered.

“Hear the sound of the wind in the grass, the rustle of the breeze through the forest over to your left, hear the animals, and listen to the world living around you.” She whispered.

Could she take this young man, so filled with anger and hatred, and turn him into a force for good, skipping all the pain and suffering she had been through. She hoped so. He possessed great power, and with the right help, he would be a wonderful defender of good and justice in the universe, she sensed.

“I’ve studied with many master while on Earth, some good and some evil but one thing I’ve learned from them all, is that to bring peace, harmony and balance to your fighting and training, you need to bring it into your life and into your being.” She whispered, touching her stomach, her ki core.

“It’s about realising that you have the power to destroy, maim, kill… to power to be evil.” she began, describing what she had felt while she was under the influence of Bloodlust.

“But choosing not to. Choosing life, creation, happiness, peace, goodness… over evil.” She whispered.

“I know it’s hard. Being a member of a race that prides itself on overpowering and instilling fear in so many races across the universe, but the fact is, we are not our fathers or mothers. We will never be forced to fight for the use of someone else ever again. We have a choice now. We can choose freedom from pain and suffering we can cause, and being better for not causing it.” she whispered.

“I am completely capable of killing you, but yet I choose not to, because even though I do not know you, I respect you because you draw breath and are alive.” She opened her eyes and looked at him.

“No life should be wasted. And anger, wastes life you could be spending on other, good pursuits.” She smiled.

He was doing it. His heart rate was slowing and his breathing had relaxed. His eyes were closed and he was meditating. She closed her eyes and continued herself.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Broly 3/30/2012, 2:45 pm

Broly scowled at the thought of being a defender of justice. He was no defender for the justice of others; he only upheld his personal justice and beliefs. Why should he defend the will of those who were too weak to defend themselves? Wasn't that the point of evolution and adaption? He closed his eyes once more, now less intent on finding peace and more intent on finding silence and safety from this woman's controversial words. On Vegeta, she would have been hanged. He had no doubt about that in the slightest. The only peaceful Saiyans were dead Saiyans, and they were resting comfortably in Hell somewhere. Though, it wasn't like she was completely wrong.

She could kill him without much effort, as things stood now. This woman was anything but a weak, but that was probably what perplexed him the most. He couldn't understand why someone with her abilities would choose a life of peace, regardless of her experiences in hell. Was what she had done that irredeemable? Squinting with closed eyes, he wandered off into his thoughts. He hadn't given much thought to redemption before, and yet she was forcing the possibility of it upon him. Was what he had done truly considered evil? To him, he was merely claiming what was his right. If they couldn't protect themselves, they didn't need to be protected by others. They would, regardless, fall eventually. That was one of the tenets preached to younger Saiyans, according to what he knew of his own culture, which admittedly was not much.

He didn't understand this wide spread generosity and charity that Earth seemed to offer. They were denying nature it's rightful course by saving those who should have been long gone, an act obviously contradictory to him. He could feel his heart rate slow, and for a brief moment it picked back up as he fought the relaxation and lost himself to his own marvel. What had caused Humanity to follow such a path? What was it in their history that made them so willing to help each other through trouble? Saiyans were the exact opposite in ideology. They didn't help each other often. Their parents weren't even together during the birth of their child. Broly's father Paragus for example, had been driven to protect him for his strength alone. But these parents cared for their child no matter what their issue.

Was that what made the Saiyans powerful? Their lack of care for their child? Clearly not. This woman was demonstrating that love could bring power well enough, and yet it was still not very common. Perhaps it was their harsh existence. The wastelands of Planet Vegeta were worth even less than the most pitiful human. Few animals had lived on the planet, from the information he'd been given. But that was all conjecture. Who was to say that Paragus had not been lying to him? What if he'd been denied childhood two fold?

The thought made him furious, as he suddenly released his meditative state. He pushed himself off of the ground, aggressive despite the peaceful surroundings that he found himself in. The birds stopped chirping, and the world suddenly felt as hushed as it had ever been to him, as if everything were holding it's breath based on the words he had been about to release from between his lips. Clenching only his right hand into a fist, Broly glanced at the woman with a mixture of curiosity and withheld fury.

"Have you ever heard of the Saiyan Paragus, woman?"

If she'd ever met him, she would remember his name. It wasn't as if Saiyans were very commonly spread anymore after all.

Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly) Empty Re: Learning Curve 1 (Ava and Broly)

Post by Ava 3/31/2012, 8:50 am

She felt his ki spike a few times before he shot up from him sitting position and looked down at her. She didn’t move at all. She still sat cross legged on the grass, her hands on her knees, with her eyes closed. His outburst didn’t surprise or scare her at all. She was expecting it slightly.

Something had obviously made him angry, a bad or hurtful memory perhaps, or maybe just the thought of trying to become a peace loving earthling. Perhaps she was asking too much of him at this stage.

"Have you ever heard of the Saiyan Paragus, woman?" he said to her.

She sighed. She thought he had it. He was clearly too angry at this stage to even sit quietly for ten minutes and meditate.

He needed to blow off steam.

“No. I have only ever met three other Saiyans. Paragus isn’t one.” She opened her eyes and looked up at him.

He seemed even more intimidating now that she was sitting on the ground.

“But clearly…” she said, getting up.
“He has done something to you that hurt you deeply.” She said, looking up at him.
“Hence your anger towards him.” she added.

She shuffled on her feet, looking down at the ground, and crossed her arms over her chest.

“This isn’t going to work just yet.” She said, frowning and looking around, specifically into town. Surely it would be okay for a few days.

“You need to get rid of some of that anger.” She added, looking back at him.

“Do you have anything you want to take with you on a trip?” she asked him, and he shook his head at her.

“Okay. I’m going to pack some things, and then, I’m going to show you why I chose Earth as my new home.” She turned and walked back into her home, coming out a few minutes later with a packed bag.

She locked the door behind her and walked up to Broly.

“You can call me Ava from now on, okay.” She said to him and he nodded.

“Good, lesson #1, women hate being called ‘woman’.” she smiled.

“Come on, let’s go.” She said shooting off into the sky.

He took off after her, eager to learn more.

May be he needed to see Earth for all its beauty to understand he it was wroth protecting.
