You've learned of Kami, the chosen Guardian of Earth, who is also a renowned warrior and teacher. Wishing to see if he would take you as his pupil, you decide to ascend to Kami's Lookout, which lies far above Korin's Tower, in the clouds. Upon arriving you are greeted by a robust black genie who tells you his name is Mr. Popo. Mr. Popo is very polite to you and a very generious host. However, he wishes to test your skills before he permits you to speak to the Guardian Kami. All you have to do is land a punch. Beware, despite his jovial appearance, Popo is a fearsome warrior.


Seventeen wondered if a fully mechanical robot could bleed. His rational side told him that wasn't possible; his circulatory system had been modified so that it would take a gaping wound to have any kind of blood show itself. That didn't stop him, however, from feeling like every part of himself was beaten and bloodied. He couldn't believe he had lost, to a girl at that. He had let his guard down, and he had been taken aback by the girls extraordinary power. He knew she had it, but the sheer strength coupled with such a small feminine form made him think that the youngling would have no capability to use it.

He stretched his arm, and felt several pops as it relocated itself; not two bones moving back into place, but two metal plates. Somehow, that made it all the more painful. He winced, and shuddered back into the worn leather of the couch, trying to ease his pain by dulling his mind about the latest fashion trends in South City. The landlady wouldn't be home for three hours yet; she always went shopping every Wednesday after getting off work. He would have to scram before then, considering she wouldn't be too happy if she saw him here. This was the third month he hadn't paid his rent, and the second since she had threatened to call the cops if he showed his ass on the premises again. He lazily dipped his hand into a bowl of popcorn, and contentedly chewed on the flakes, as much as they tasted like buttered Styrofoam. The crunching noise the kernels made as he chewed were slightly more satisfying, and slightly less painful, than the crunching noise his bones had made as he had piledrived into the ground the evening before.

He flipped the channel, bored with the current television prospects. Channel one was a reality TV show starring an Indian Man and his cat. Fascinating, he mused, but not for someone of his intellectual capabilities. Next, on Channel two, there was some kind of infomercial playing, in which an Asian man was speaking rapidly, endorsing some product that Seventeen has neither interest in nor money to spend it on. Channel three, like always, was static. Channel four was the News. Well, he thought quietly to himself, it was better than nothing. A tall, blond reporter was standing in front of a large stone tower, pointing to it and shouting hurriedly. Seventeen turned off mute. This might actually be interesting.

"-eems that he was climbing this structure, which many claim stretches up to infinity. He looked to have fallen, and was pronounced dead on impact by the authorities. No foul play was suspected to be involved, but why this man was climbing this structure in the first place is anyone's guess. Back to you, Anna." Seventeen turned off the television. Tower that stretched to infinity? Kami's Tower, perhaps? Seventeen had heard of the place; a realm situated high above the clouds, to which Korin's Tower was nothing but a mere speck compared to this massive obelisk . He supposed that the poor lad had fallen, and his innards had become his outtards upon his landing. He took a moment to examine his options, and went with the one he felt would lead to the most "fun".

He would climb the tower. And meet a god.
