The Turtle Hermit Part II
Medium Quest
Requirement: Must have completed The Turtle Hermit.
Reward: 2,000 zeni and 10 Hero Points.
So, Master Roshi has agreed to train you. But, he has not always been known as the most conventional of teachers. He sends you to a remote island and tells you to survive for thirty says without using your powers. How will you overcome the hazards and isolation of island life, and can you make it through the rigors without breaking down wielding your ki?

The air among Master Roshi's island was cool on the day that Master Roshi would deliver his news. Bardock walked inside of Roshi's house and entered the kitchen where master was cooking up a little meal.
"Ah, Bardock, I have news for you today," Roshi told him as he set down a pot full of shrimp on the loose legged table.
"What is it?, did I do something wrong?" Bardock asked curiously as he sat down on one of the chairs.
"Oh no no no no, in fact this is anther one of my challenges," Roshi told him.
"Ah , I just love your little missions that you have for me to do while I train," Bardock spoke with a mouthful of shrimp in his mouth
"You see, your going to live on your own for thirty days on a island without using energy," Master Roshi explained
"Sounds like a challenge for me, well challenge accepted," Bardock rose from the table and slipped on his wrist bands and clipped his sword case to his side. It made a loud noise as it slipped it.
"Bardock, you must understand this, you need to find your own food, you need to continue training alone while your on this island.

As Bardock approached the island that he was spending a month on underneath Roshi's order, there was a soft breeze flowing against his face, it was warm and gentle as it should be on a day like this. There were some clouds hanging in the sky but the sun's rays shinned across the planet.
Once he was about twenty feet from the island he could already here monkeys making noises high in the canopy tops. Bardock's face grew a smile.
He laughed at the jungle "This is going to be a very easy month," but little did he know, it was going to be the worst month of his life
Once his feet touched the ground, a twig snapped underneath his foot. Causing flocks of birds to take off away from Bardock's direction.
"Stupid birds, don't know what truly lies deep in the universe, the evil that lurks among the universe, but what do they know there only birds," Bardock's strangely spoke as he started to gather firewood
After he found a good place to start camp he started on a wood pile, gathering all the sticks he could. With the limited knowledge he had of the forest he built an odd looking fort. It was long sticks laid up against a tree. The problem was the sticks were too far apart and they were also rotten all the way through. Within minutes that crappy looking fort collapsed. Leaving a whole ten minutes of real hard work to nothing.

The cracking of the shelter breaking apart right above Bardock awoke him in the dead of the night, his heart shot through his chest as he noticed that his clothes had caught on fire when he jerked forward upon awaking
"Shit!" Bardock screamed as he rolled on the ground furiously
The last flames slowly vanished as they were crushed by the Saiyan's body weight. Bardock ripped off the remaining part of the bottom of his burnt pants, making them into shorts. His body still slightly burned from the ashes still on his skin.
For the next few hours he worked on a new fort, one that wouldn't collapse above him while he slept. The final product was a branch wedged in between the split of a tree. Then that stick went straight and that end was wedged inside the "Y" end of a stick, which was deep in the ground. After that was up Bardock stacked large stick on the side from next to the tree to the end of the stick on both sides. Once that was mostly covered Bardock placed large pieces of bark over the bigger spaces in the sticks.
"Sweet, I have a basic shelter up finally," Bardock spoke out loud even though no one was there
Bardock started to collect a bunch of leaves and place them inside his shelter, then he added sticks on that then even more leaves and grass. For the rest of the day he collected lots of firewood for that night. He figured he would use three or four logs every 15 minutes. That should last him for the rest of the night from the amount of wood that he collected.
The skies began to darken and that meant Night II of thirty and Bardock was still not ready.

Once the sun set wolves started to find there way out into the night and howl at the moon, and owls began to hunt for there pray, and Bardock was getting ready for a vicious night. There was no doubt that prey would find it's way to him, wither wolf or coyote, there was something after Bardock.
The night was getting cool as The fearless Saiyan loaded more wood onto the dying fire.His body had blisters all over it from the previous morning that popped every time he moved.
Roshi was right, this was a very boring time for the Saiyan. It was only the second night and faced some problems. A sudden cracking noise shot through the forest. Bardock shot up and got into a fighting stance, after looking around for a while he decided it was perhaps just a mouse.
After about half an hour Bardock's eyes grew heavy and he fell asleep. His dream was of him slaughtering wolves that seemed to enjoy terrorizing humans. Bardock speared several wolves then leaped to some more and starting cracking heads. Once he opened his eyes, he realized that dream may come true after all.
A wolf had it's noise right up to Bardock's, it's claws were deep inside the ground. His reaction was to punch it smack in the nose, but this would prove to be wrong. The wolf snapped at the Saiyan. Bardock's body quickly dodged the bite, but taking out the entire shelter with it.
Bardock backed up to see several wolves around him, all of them were growling deeply.
"Shit, not now," Bardock screamed as he dodged more attacks
A wolf jumped at his arm, sinking it's teeth deep into his skin.
"AH!" Bardock screamed as he swung his fist into the wolf's face
Bardock then watched as the other wolves began there assault.

With each jump that the wolves made toward Bardock was each punch that he delivered to there tiny wolf faces.
"Disrupt my sleep?," Bardock told the wolves, " You bastards, now you shall die,"
Bardock grabbed a wolf by it's neck as it tried to bite him. The Saiyan then held the wolf up in the air and pulled his foot next to his body and then jabbed it into the gut of the wolf. Suddenly anther wolf jumped up on his face, clamping down on his shoulder. Bardock threw the wolf that he was holding in his hands and elbowed the wolf that was hooked on his shoulder. Then he swung his foot up and kicked one wolf in the chin.
More wolves began to circle him and Bardock was getting more and more ticked off at them. Finally he grabbed a log from the fire (none burning part) and waved in at the wolves, turns out wolves were scared of fire and they all took off like a bunch of wimps.
"That'll teach them a les-" Bardock passed out and landed on the spot where his shelter was.
He awoke with scratches all up and down his body.
"God dammit," Bardock screamed as one scrapped against a tree.
Deep inside, he had a feeling they weren't done with him.

The rest of Bardock's day sucked, he couldn't get any work done to the thousands of scratches all over his body. However, he did manage to remake his fort and make a door to keep wolves out of his lovely shelter.
Bardock couldn't gather any wood for the night so he made sure to have some sticks to keep burning for some warmth. Even though it was only about 5 pm the quietness and warmth of the flame made Bardock fall asleep.
All was calm when he awoke the next mourning. And so was the next week afterward.
Once he awoke on the mark of 10 days out in the woods, 1/3 of his challenge was complete.
"Master Roshi is going to be so proud!" Bardock screamed as he dove into a small river that he discovered only days earlier
The coolness of the water made him feel really good. The fish stared as Bardock swam to the bottom of the river. He noticed a strange looking rock that reminded him of planet Vegeta, even though it was filled with ruthless Saiyans he still missed it. The way the trees would shake in heavy storms and everyone would rush out to protect there building from extinction.
Yes, it was so close. Bardock could feel a rush of excitement as he thought of helping the poor ape who was stuck in giant homicidal ape form. He almost forgot about him, he had to reach the ape form before helping the monkey break the curse and free him for good.
Bardock's lung let go a bunch of carbon dioxide as he ran out of air and he had to rush back up for more. As he reached the top he took in as much fresh clean oxygen as he could.
The water ran off of his head and down his body as he jumped up out of the water. He took is clothes and put them back on (yeah while they were wet). Next he took a bucket he brought with and filled it up with water then he took his second bucket and did the same. Lastly he placed the handles on the end of a stick and he put it behind his neck as he walked.

Bardock slowly started to walk back to his camp, leaving foot prints in the sand while his feet left the spot they just were, because he knew the trail so well he closed his eyes for a bit while he continued back.
His mind once again wandered off to anther place, his mind thought of what to do for the rest of his visit here on this dammed island. Suddenly his thoughts shifted to life before this planet. How every day of his life he trained for the king. Now he trained for himself not for some wretched king. If he could surpass a lot of 1st class Saiyans then he truly would be the best.Bardock's face grew a grin, oh how he came to love those grins he would get while thinking of being better then everyone.
Bardock's shin rammed into a strange unknown object.
"But I'v walked this many times I've never hit an object before," Bardock spoke before he opened his eyes
Even before his eyes opened fully a sharp pain sank into his leg. The eyes of the Saiyan warriors shot open then Goku's eyes when he spotted food. The wolves had found him again. Bardock immediately forced himself away from the wolves, dropping the water onto the cold hard path.
" If it's a fight you want, It's a fight you bastards will get!" Bardock screamed as his fist shot into a wolves head

Bardock's rage grew stronger with every snap those wolves took at him, but that just meant the harder and faster he fought them.
"Dammit, there must be over 100 of these things!" Bardock screamed as his foot sand into one wolves gut "Take this you sticky bastards!"
Bardock forced his fist into the spine of one and sent it backward. Nothing mattered now, the wolves were weakening him and they just kept coming. Went all hope started to slip away, he noticed a spear that he had planted along in case these wolves came to revenge their fallen brethren. He leaped into the air and grabbed on a low hanging branch. It didn't take much to swing on that branch and gain flying distance. Since flying is using ki to propel yourself in the air and using ki was banned for him for the thirty days he had to swing. As soon as his feet touched the ground he sprung forward and grabbed hold of the spear.
Once that spear was in his possession he whipped himself around and threw the sharp tips spear into the side of the nearest wolf. After he knew the bastard was dead he yanked the spear from its side and waved it at the others.
"I'LL KILL YOU ALL!" Bardock screamed as he swung in across the closest fury thing
As soon as the tip grazed the wolf, it leaped backward and took off in the opposite direction. The other wolves followed him too.

Even though they were running away Bardock still hated those things, they invaded his sleep, they made him lose a crap load of water and they had harmed him enough, he was done taking crap from them so he kept spearing them. With every single one that laid dead Bardock gained more and more of a rush of energy. The wild set inside of him, he was now one with the wild, a true beast.
The energy soon wore out after chasing the wolves for at least ten miles. As he took his mighty spear to kill one last one, he noticed it was the last one. Regret shot through him as he realized that the last wolf was a pregnant mom. He decide to go home, but it was at least 8:00 at night and it'd take him nine hours to walk back and he didn't feel like walking. After taking enough steps so that he was far from the wolf he almost collapsed. Instead he quickly climbed a large tree and leaned against it while his feet hung over a tree branch. He took his sword that was on his side that hole time.
"Shit!" Bardock shouted " I COULD'VE TAKEN THEM OUT A LOT EASIER!"
Those were his final words as he passed out for the night.

Bardock awoke at about 1:00 pm, and it wasn't because he was done resting. His body fell out of the tree. Luckily about mid point of his forty foot drop he awoke and his in stink told him to grab something. His thoughts had lead him right. His hand grabbed the edge of a branch. It got so far down his feet could almost touch. Instead the branch flew back up, while he was still on. His hands let go as the branch was higher then he started. His feet, aimed at the sun, remained still and his body looked like an arrow flying through the bright sky. Above a crap load of trees. All of his thoughts remained still as his body grew closer and closer to the ground. With out much movement his arm extended out and his finger gripped anther branch from a tree that was at least four-hundred feet from the last one. That one bended low to the ground Bardock wasn't done. The branch flew into the air and he let go pointing his feet again. Flying even further then the last one. He grabbed anther branch and did that until he was close to home.
After about half a mile he reached his camp,Bardock's jaw dropped once he saw two full buckets of water, sitting in front of his shelter.

A note was left upon one of the two buckets of water.
It read:
Bardock,
I've watched you under close observation and you still don't cease to impress me, hope the best for the remaining days here

This made Bardock smile, and the rest of his time was the best
On the day after the last day every thing was perfect for him. The sky had a dark blue color to it with little to no clouds in the air. The temperature was warm and the birds were singing. All was set for him, he hoped the best for the mama wolf and the cubs she was going to have.
The last of the wood was thrown onto the crackling fire. Bardock watched as the wood was engulfed in flames. It took that about twenty minutes for it to burn out completely. Then he tossed water onto the flames to smother it for sure. Then he grabbed his sword and took off into the air.

This made Bardock smile, and the rest of his time was the best
On the day after the last day every thing was perfect for him. The sky had a dark blue color to it with little to no clouds in the air. The temperature was warm and the birds were singing. All was set for him, he hoped the best for the mama wolf and the cubs she was going to have.
The last of the wood was thrown onto the crackling fire. Bardock watched as the wood was engulfed in flames. It took that about twenty minutes for it to burn out completely. Then he tossed water onto the flames to smother it for sure. Then he grabbed his sword and took off into the air.

The rush of energy shot through Bardock as he saw the old man sitting in a chair with shrimp ready for Bardock.
"Bardock, I see that you survived for a whole month and didn't fight any wolves," Master Roshi spoke while taking a bite of a crunchy shrimp
"Actually, I fought a shit ton of them," Bardock told him while reaching for a piece of shrimp
"It wasn't a fight for you," Roshi explained to the young Bardock
"Well all hope was lost, I was as good as dead until I saw a spear in the ground that I planted," Bardock chewed the biggest shrimp he could find
"Ah, So the wolves put up a good fight then?" Master questioned
"Yes they did, not all but one mom and her cubs are alive," Bardock's face frowned
"Well, I'm glad your sad for murdering those poor creatures, well they should've tried mess with a third class Saiyan!"
Bardock finished his talk then went out to the yard to show off his skills, and for the first time in a month Bardock was happy
